    Re: Phobias??

My biggest phobia is walking/cycling over bridges! Don't ask why though I am not sure, some bridges are ok, but some arent.

Frogs. Isn't that weird??? And we're not just talking scared of them, I mean I'm horrified. A few times I've came close to having one jump on me and I threw up and was shaking and sweating.........real, real phobia. Scary.

My most prominent fear is of bathrooms. Seriously! I'm not scared of water in general, I love swimming - pools, ocean, lakes...but bathrooms I just suffer with. I'm scared of toilets, showers, and baths.

It's ridiculous, and I dont know why I'm scared of them.

MotherCooter- I'm the same way with tornados- ever since I was a little girl. I would stare out my window in the middle of the night and every weird cloud I was convinced was a tornado. I still dream about them too.

I've always heard the teeth dream meant you were stressed. I've had that one too.

Heights-I'm not afraid I'm gonna fall- I'm afraid I'm gonna jump- sounds crazy I know.

Worms and moths are the biggest fears. Worms are just.....blech!! On rainy days you will find me hopping, skipping and zigzagging along the sidewalk trying to avoid them. Moths are just unpredictable and they always want to fly into my face or my hair. At least spiders just sit there. Moths are insane.

I also don't like heights. I can get up on the counter to clean the cabinets but then I'm stuck there. I have to get on all fours on a 2 foot wide counter and climb back down. Veeerrrry carefully.

I can walk down a dock - but end up crawling back on my hands and knee's because I am afraid I will get sucked into the water - I can't explain it its like I automatically go tipping towards the edge.
I love watching the waves at the beach but its whats in them.....lurking, waiting, and watching me .........I grew up on LI and my parents took us to see the catch from the shark hunts - there were some pretty big sharks caught off of LI. And when I was a kid, my Aunt was running on the beach and stepped on a horse shoe crab and the pointy thing was up and it went thru her foot.
I could be a millionaire now if I'd have thought - after that, I never, ever went in the water without my shoes on

Oh I forgot about heights, I'm terrified of heights. Like LIR it takes me 30 mins to climb down off a counter LOL.

We were once at a castle in Toronto (tourist attraction thing) and they have metal spiral staircases to get up to the towers, I got half way up and was paralzed with fear and clung to the railing. after my hubby pried my hands off it and talked me into going back down, I had to ask everyone behind me to back up so i could go back..it was very embarrassing. though no one was upset..they were more amused than anything.

Hmm, maybe ants. There's ALWAYS more than one around. If they're in the house, gotta break out the spray (any kind) and/or vacuum. Then I'm constantly checking to see if any are crawling on me. I don't like cockroaches either. Not sure if these are phobias but any and all insects don't belong in a "people" house.

                    Re: Phobias??

I also have those horrible dreams where my teeth are falling out, and I have dreams about tornados--I see them and I'm frozen to the spot, can't move, can't escape.

I have a fear of heights, but it's getting better. I'm ok unless there's a big dropoff right next to where I'm walking. I can handle ferris wheels and being on top of mountains and tall buildings, BUT I get vertigo if I'm hiking and the trail has a steep drop-off...then I get nervous and lose my coordination and act like a ninny. It's actually pretty scary because I almost become immobilized by fear--and I didn't tell my boyfriend for until about 2 years after we'd been together that I get vertigo in high places. I've found that by confronting it, the fear is going away, little by little.

One thing that I DO NOT want to confront is vomit. This is my absolute worst phobia. I can't see people do it, can't hear it, can't smell it, and I freak out if I do it...lots of times I start crying. I will do anything to prevent myself from throwing up. Give me spiders or snakes anyday, just don't puke!

I've been to Thailand a few times, and I've never seen a snake. Geckos and little lizards, but no snakes. I'm betting that was an unusual occurrence for the snake to fall out of a tree like that.

I am terrified of spiders. I shriek every time I see one which makes my dog go bonkers with worry (she's a worry-bug). My hubby kills them. I don't know why, I just can't stand to see them either, whether in a magazine, on TV or whatever, I cannot look at them! So imagine my fun when I went to a friends place once and they rented "Arachnophobia." Had my back turned the entire time.

LOL I didn't notice many spiders either...many other odd bugs though. The mosquitos ate me alive...my brother and I were counting to see who had the most mosquito bites, I had 40 something of them by the time we flew back. He had more!

I would have been doing the same as you if someone got me to watch Arachnophobia in the theater. Most likely my eyes would have been shut the entire time haha!
