I got a letter in the mail today saying I had run a red light in one of those traffic camera intersections. At first I was sure it was a joke cause I know yellow means slow down the light is about to turn red not hurry speed up the light is turning red. Turns out when the DMV gave me my new plate for my knew car they mailed me the wrong one and somebody else for the last 3 yrs has been driving on my plates and me on somebody elses. (Makes me wonder if that isn't why they issed new plates this yr when our tags expire since it was a new to the state tag when I got it back then.)
I called the number they give you and told them you can clearly see in their pic that that tag isn't on the car discribed in the ticket which has the DMV info for that plate number and their officer filling out the ticket has made a mistake. they told me since that number is assigned to my car I have to go to court and dispute this even thought they can see in the blow up of thier pic the name of the vehicle on the rear isn't the same make nor model as the one they claim they are ticketing.
Not only do I have to request a court date to dispute this in writing I then have to go to court and prove the DMV made a mistake on my plate, find a sitter for mother, and have a certified copy of my car wearing my plate made and buy my new plate a month early so that nothing any longer can be charged to me in the event this person gets caught doing any more illegal redlight running or worse.
When I called the local county clerks office she said i could buy mine early but don't bring in the old plate cause since it technically doesn't belong to me they will take it and I will need it for evidence. Meamwhile I got somebody elses plate and somebody else has the person who ran the red lights plate cause that car doesn't match the color of the car registerd to my plate. Boy did somebody at the DMV have a bad day back in DEC of 03.
