Re: 9/11
I was in class when it happened, and was on my way to saxophone studio when one of my other professors said, "Hey, the WTC is gone, and there are pictures of it on the internet." We thought he was joking, and sure enough, he showed us the news footage. Studio class was cancelled, so my friends and I went to lunch, which didn't last long--someone from the University announced that campus was closed and that we all had to leave for safety reasons. Imagine a University of 20,000+ students all leaving at the same time. It took us hours to get home, when we only lived a couple of miles away. When we finally did arrive home, my roommates and friends and I just watched the footage for hours, not really grasping what had happened.START 8/16/06 @ 270+~MG1: 220-12/2/06~MG2: 210-1/07~MG3: 199-3/2/07~MG4: 190-4/27/07~MG5: 180-7/04/07~GOAL: 170

Re: 9/11
I was at work in the operating room. We got bits & pieces of the news as we were doing surgery. One of my co-workers later in the day was extremely upset as she found out the planes flew out of Boston. One of her very close friends is a pilot who flies out of Boston. Luckily with the help of the hospitals counselor she was able to find out her friend did not fly that day. My husband had the day off from work that particular day. He was still in his bathrobe when I got home & was in a state of shock.
It is a day none of us will ever forget. And a day that we will always remember where we were & what we were doing.

Re: 9/11
I was at home in my PJ's and my hubby had just gone to sleep. I flipped on the TV just after the first plane hit and I stood there--mouth agape--for a few econds before it registered.
I ran to get my husband and he didn't believe me. He thought I was joking. I pulled him out of bed and we sat together in the livingroom watching that horrible vision unfold. When the towers collapsed, so did our hearts. My husband used to attend school in Tower one on the 85th floor and he knew so many people in there.
It was heartbreaking and changed so many lives, not only those who were in the tower but all over the globe.

Re: 9/11
I was on my way to work, listening to the radio and the announcer was terribly upset as he stated that people were jumping out of a building. He kept saying.. another one, omg... another one... I hadn't a clue what was going on until I got to work and switched on a radio again, and listened all day.
My brother once worked in the Pentagon, and knew people there, so he was upset about that too.

emma, thanks for starting this thread. i will never forget that day. i was sitting in the LR having coffee. the news was on in the other room (we are west coast time)....the ex said "what kind of idiot flies his plane into a skyscraper?" well, weird things happen in CA all the time so i did not listen to him too much.....then shortly there after, he said it AGAIN....i took notice and went to see for myself
the emotions i felt that day. anger, fear, sorrow, worry, panic, loss, helplessness,,,,too many to name. the PRIDE i felt and feel today to be an AMERICAN!!! the pride i felt watching our own helping one another. i still feel overwhelmed at all those emotions...i had to go to work with first graders and remain....calm and strong. tough day.
god bless this great nation and bring us and the world peace. let's never forget those who died that tragic day.

Re: 9/11
For some unknown reason I was awake early... hubby had just left for work and I turned on the news and the first plane had just gone into the building... then the second plane went in... I was on the phone calling my husband, girlfriend, etc... freaking out crying thinking OMG! should I let my kids go to school... I did because son's best friends mom is a counselor and said to keep things as normal for the kids as possible... the school dealt with it well... I was a mess... cried all day glued to the TV... I think I cried for about 2 weeks straight... I remember my son was playing soccer and his coach is from some kind of middle eastern desent... and when I took him to practice his face was so sad, I just remember how it made everyone closer and people you never really talk to before suddenly were talking to eachother like best friends... hugging eachother. I worried that our soccer coach would experience some kind of hate violence backlash... but he's well loved in the community so that was good I don't think he did. I remember I couldn't function very well... one thing that helped me was making the banner for the team... just creating it and making it look good... made me feel better. I had just moved so I also was kinda lonely and having a hard time adjusting.... those were sad days. It changed everything in a way.

Re: 9/11
I had just turned on tv to watch the morning news while my youngest piled her legos on the floor and my oldest was safe and sound in kindergarten when I caught the news breaking in to show the twin towers falling.
Because there was so much news coverage flooding the regular channels, hubby and I didn't turn the tv on during the day until after the girls went to bed; even then it was just too much for me to take. I think it was during that time we became avid PBS viewers with Barney and Arthur. To this day, we really don't watch much tv during the day and limit our news watching....and we're still PBS fans.
It's just such a sad memory, but yet a wonderful reminder of how many heros there are.

I still very much remember that day. I was a senior in high school and I was sitting in my lab when another teacher from down the hall ran in to tell my teacher. My teacher got all upset and turned on the tv and although she didn’t announce what was happening, we all just turned and watched the news in awe. In every class, that’s all we did all day, was watch the live coverage. It was the saddest day – I can say that before this happened, I didn’t really think it was possible. I never thought anything of it actually. Now, when I see those United 93 movies on tv and terrorist documentaries and hear 9-11 songs, etc I get so full of anger and pride at the same time – just knowing that one day they will get what is coming to them. My heart goes out to anyone and everyone! This affected us all in a huge way! I am so honored to be apart of this country because of all the men and women who are willingly laying down there lives for me.
In my town yesterday - there was a 18 year old who like many others he joined right after graduation and got killed yesterday which was also his birthday. His family lives on the road I take to work – there had to have been atleast 400 cars there yesterday evening and the yard was full of flags, flowers, pictures, everything you could imagine. I stopped and gave some flowers and this amazing American soldier car\poem. I chatted with the mother for a few minutes and she mentioned that her husband was in one of the towers during 9-11 and also lost his life. She has no parents, her husband is gone & now her son who was the only child. I couldn’t imagine! and its families like that who make OUR freedom possible.
Ok – I’m done with my book!

Re: 9/11
I was in my kitchen in New Hampshire....(I was married to an American, therefore lived there). It was surreal. My husband (rest his soul) was originally from New York and worked there for years...therefore it was so much more hard for him to believe.

Re: 9/11
I was driving up to my cabin . It was being built and I had to go varnish the wood. I heard something about a plane crash, but since the cabin is in the middle of nowhere, reception was really bad and I couldnt understand. When we arrived at the village, all of the tv stations were covering the story and I just felt like it was the end of the world. I was unable to paint because I just felt it was so futile, painting with so many dead...and I was convinced that WW3 was going to break out...F44yrs young 5'7" SW172/CW152/GW140
