My mother in laws dryer had recently gone bad. I know there came a point where it was not getting hot, and was not shutting off. I was talking to her this morning about it and she asked me which way I turn my dryer dial. Well, I turn mine clockwise, and it also "clicks" and works going clockwise as does my washer. She stated that she turns her's counter clockwise. Now I do use her dryer when I visit, and as she stated, we don't want to end up with another broken dryer. My question is does it really matter which way you turn the dial? Obviously our dryer dials go both directions, could this have been the reason for her dryer breaking?
I did some research on what I could and all I saw was that it most likely was her dial motor, and all she need to do was replace that piece... instead she bought a whole new unit. She thinks basically that by turning it the wrong way it had broken or stripped the dial unit and thats what started the whole thing. I would feel terrible if I "broke" her dryer due to turning the dial the wrong way, but in all honesty I don't think that is what happened and was hoping to get some feedback. Thanks in advance!
