        I picked 140 lbs. because that is a weight I had achieved in the past, and I felt I looked good at.

        The funny thing is, I am now in the size that I was back then when I weighed 140 lbs. -- but I am like 20 lbs. heavier!

        I'm not aiming to be super slim, I just want to be healthy. I also like my curves!

          My goal weight is based on when I remember myself feeling my best. I'm NOT getting any younger so ... if getting rid of 10+ years of getting bigger and bigger can be GONE .. I have to be able to feel better! If I don't get into the size 9/10 ... sobeit but .. I just want to FEEL better!!
          THIS TIME and for the LAST TIME, I will do this!!

            When I weighed 160 the doctor I saw for my first job physcial to work at a nursing home told me, "You need to either lose 20 pounds or grow a foot". I basically thought I was perfect in every way ( I love Mary Poppins).

            I got married when I weighed 160.

            I was at my fittest at 160.

            So, 160 it is.

              When I was in college I weighed 150. My measurements were 36-26-35. I liked the way I looked and felt. I still had meat on my bones and I had curves. I picked 147, because I like the number.
              I had a doctor tell me I should weigh 117. I'm 5 foot 6 and personally, do not think I'd look good that thin (of course I wouldn't know unles I got down that low ) and besides at 150 I remember having to sleep with a pillow across my hips and ribs because it felt strange with my bones poking out when I lay flat.
              But for now 147 is a ways off, I just want to get to twoterville!

                I had never been at a healthy weight my entire life, then in a fitness website I plugged in my numbers and got what BMI I should aim for. Later my doctor helped me adjust it ^_^

                  Ummm......Yeah! I couldn't pick this one "I picked a weight that I last looked good." Because I think the last time I was not overweight I was about 5 and I don't think I would look very good at 50 lbs. or what ever was. :P

                      I used BMI & charts, plus knowledge that much below that, I was told "you're too thin" and above it, "you need to eat less".

                      but regained ~20# in '07 in less than 3 weeks! And again early '08 ...Was in HEAVEN -got to 150, for awhile, then got too busy, and gave in too much... and... OK holding pattern "keep it together..."

                        I went with a combo of bmi/weight chardts and how I felt at a certain weight.

                          Boy this thread is old.... but not as old as my first round of atkins... anyhow..
                          BMI is my first judge of what my goal is.... I used cdc.gov for the weight I should be, and if at that point I feel I could lose more I will... and most likely that may be the case

                            225 old football weight. Linebacker many,many moons ago. Looked and felt good. Maybe wont be as solid as before but you gotta take the good with the bad. God Bless, Joe
