Re: How often do you weigh yourself?

Once a day here. I already know that within a week my weight can vary by about 3lbs. If I hit a certain weight value around 4x in a week, I record that as my new current weight.

I am once a day, but that has to stop. I should do it once a week.

There should have been an "at least once a day" option. That would be more accurate for me.

Once a week for me. I spend my time dealing with averages and data during the day, the last thing I want is to do that for my weight. I figure once a week will reflect the loss that's sticking and if I gained that week, it sure wasn't a sudden ten pounds the night before and that I did something wrong that week.

Re: How often do you weigh yourself?

Good Question... I've tried weighing once a month and that really drives me crazy. I have no idea if I'm doing well or not. I really can't just go by how I feel or simply looking in the mirror because I never see the "real" me... I always see a heavier version of myself. I can wait to weigh once a week and have done that a lot while trying to lose this weight. However, I'm finding that the closer I am to goal, I need to monitor my weight on a daily basis. I am constantly adding different foods that I may have a reaction to and I don't want it to get out of control. So, for right now, I prefer weighing daily. If I notice the scale going up a bit, I can evaluate the carbs that I've added into my food plan. Of course I never worry about that TOM... that would be crazy. I never weigh then.

Every couple days for me, I like giving my body a couple days to fully register a change in weight so I'm not stressing over little fluctuations.

Re: How often do you weigh yourself?

I weigh once a day, but I would not recommend that practice until you've achieved a certain amount of success and you feel you have control over your progress.

Before I found the right combination of diet and exercise, the fluctuations in weight each day were very deflating and often left me powerless. It took a few months to figure out what caused this and once I was able to see a pattern of success emerging, then I gained the knowledge, awareness and confidence to see whatever the scale served up.

Today I track my weight more so to find correlations between my diet and the impact on weight. I have a link in my sig to my sodium study. That was the biggest eye-opener I've found so far. After that, it's still the excitement of seeing those numbers drop and everyone loves that

Keep up the good work everyone - find your program and then ride it out. You'll succeed

Here's basically what I'm doing to average a 2-4lb loss each week:
                  • Free Weights M, W, F 40 minutes
                  • Cardio T, Th, S 90 minutes
                  • Average Intake=1300-1400 Average Expenditure=3200
                  • Low sodium (attempting - it's really tricky!)
                  • Grazing Approach
                  • Use of vitamins and whey protein isolate

I still can't get over it. I keep trying to put the scale away for at least 2 weeks but somehow it finds its way back to my bathroom floor. ugh.

Re: How often do you weigh yourself?

I only do it once a week because I believe you get the most accurate results that way. I think that if you way yourself daily your weight just fluctuates because of water weight, etc. Whereas if you weight yourself once a week on the same day then there is proof of a real difference. That's just me.

I weigh myself twice a day! Once in the morning and once before bed. I used to get annoyed with myself but actually think it saves the disappointment of waiting a week or two and having stayed the same! Maybe when I am closer to goal, I will be able to change?
