How often do you weigh yourself? I am curious to see what most on here do. If you have time, please reply and tell what you think is the best way.

Re: How often do you weigh yourself?
I picked "once a day" because you didn't have an option for "more than once a day"!

Re: How often do you weigh yourself?
I chose "once a month", but things are a bit different when one is still in the weight loss phases and are anxious to see results. Back then I was regularily weighing every Sunday morning. Weighing more than once a week tends to get really depressing especially since our weight fluctuates so much depending on when we last ate, whether we're retaining water among a host of other reasons.
Really though, you can weigh yourself as much as you want so long as not seeing the number you want on the scale doesn't discourage you and help convince you to just give up. The scale will not always be our friend, in fact it rarely is. Weight loss is as much a mental battle as it is a physical one.
Now that I'm in maintenance I don't see the point of climbing on the scale that often. Once a month is enough to confirm that I'm still on track!
Best of luck!

Once a day here. It's encouraging to see some amount of difference, but I don't count my weight loss here until 7 days.

Re: How often do you weigh yourself?
Once a day is a MUST for me. If I waited for once a week, I would spend the whole week deluding myself about how well I am doing and not stick to plan. For loss, for maitenence, for the rest of my life, I will have to weigh every day to succeed. Sounds extreme, but I know myself. I've keps 100lbs off for years now, and when did I gain a little back? This past Christmas when I stopped weighing myself. (luckily I caught myself in time, 10 lbs is easier to lose than 100!) I use weight commander to track everything, which gives you a running average as well as actuals, so you know when it's just a blip or a for-real trend. Which helps.100 pounds gone forever from 12/03-11/04. Thank you Dr. Atkins, may you rest in peace...

I weigh myself everyday. That way I know I'm eating right, and it keeps me motivated.Hayden.

Re: How often do you weigh yourself?
I keep telling myself I'll only weigh once a week,,,,and I do only record once a week, but I end up weighing in almost daily. I put once a day on your survey, but it's more like once on monday, nothing on tuesday and wednesday, three times on thursday, and so on. I like to weigh every time I add a new food to see how/if it's affecting me, and I'll weigh several times over a couple of days to see if it did anything to my loss. It also keeps me inspired at the moment, as I'm doing better on the scale than I am with the tape measure

Re: How often do you weigh yourself?
I weigh once a day, but only concentrate on the trend I get from averaging the results, weekly. My daily weight fluctuates a great deal, so a weekly average is more accurate. Before and after:

Re: How often do you weigh yourself?
I personally do not want to develop an obsession with the scale! I have enough "stuff" to deal with already.
Thus I don't own a scale.
I weigh in every Monday at my doctor's office...I work in the hospital & do my weigh in before patients arrive.

Re: How often do you weigh yourself?
Just once a week for me--the daily ups and downs would just be too discouraging. I know that if I gained a pound or two since my previous weigh in I would be depressed.
I do try on clothes that are currently too small for me a few times a week which is always encouraging since they are starting to fit

Re: How often do you weigh yourself?
I weigh in every day, sometimes twice if I don't eat until noon or so. I have tried to get away from weighing everyday, even putting the scale in a out of the way spot so it is a hassle to pull it out and weigh myself. I never let myself down though, I always dig it out every morning.
