Dated for about a year. Happily married for 32 years now. Lot of bumps along the way, even some mountains. Still learning how to get along lol.

We met in October of 2001 and were good friends for months.

We officially became a couple (after we spent the whole night talking, then kissed in my doorway the following morning) on March 14, 2002.

Geoff first asked me to marry him about 2 weeks after that! Of course, it was a spontaneous thing from the heart, no serious plans, no financial means to buy a ring! I think basically he was asking for a "reservation".

He proposed OFFICIALLY on May 31, 2008.

We will be married on March 14, 2009, 7 years to the date that we became inseparable.

We were together 6 yrs. We were at my sisters house in Blytheville,Ark. when he popped the question. 11 yrs. later we are still shacking up.hahahaha We have been together 17 longgggggggggg yrs.

Five months ... we never really got engaged; we just up and got married ... we "hooked up" in December 1995 and married May 1996; we haven't killed each other yet, so I guess that qualifies as a successful union! My avatar is our wedding day in Key West

First date Nov 14th 2002... 18 Months of dating before he proposed .. and 4.5 year engagement We moved in together and just hadnt gotten around to getting married until this past summer. the follow note was posted on our fridge until July 17th of this year LOL

I love this post, and just found it again, so thought I would add my story

Met in September 2005 in college (ironically enough, the class was Psychology of Women! Haha, I love to give him a hard time that he only took it to try to figure us out!)

We were just close friends until we started dating in November 2005. Moved into our first "love cottage" as we called it in June 2006. Knew we wanted to get married, but were planning to wait until he had at least a year of law school out of the way "just in case you want an out," as he put it. That would have been summer of 2008. But I told him if I was going to put him through law school, we better be married, so we got engaged in September 2006, and decided to get married the summer BEFORE he started law school.

Married July 26, 2007

Coming up on our 2nd Anniversary!!

And love him dearly!

Nine years!! I didn't think it was ever going to happen! We got engaged in May 2003, got married in July 2004 and baby number one arrived April 2005 and baby number two October 2006! So it all happened quite quickly after the engagement! We were only 22 (me) and 23 (him) when we met. We moved in together after five years. x

Hahaha well I wouldn't call it dating, we lived together for 4 yrs and swore neither of us would ever marry again. But then all of a sudden we realized that this was sooooo different from what we both had the first time. So he popped the question Christmas of 07 and we got married last August!
And it is sooooo different than the first one. He calls me his partner in crime! We have a great life together and lots of mutual respect and support.

I must tell you how my second marrage happened it was great fun. My first marrage had been a bit of a nightmare so I was happy just being together, I didn't need a bit of paper, you know how it goes. Well, I am quite a bit older than my hubs and we were in business together and eventually our financial adviser advised that I should write a will.

Good heavens I said if I do that then I will die immediately, that is what happens when you write a will, and everyone says "oh how fortunate, that she wrote a will". Well, if you won't write a will then you will have to get married I was told. I don't really want to do that either I complained but it is a little better than dying.

I picked a day, which just happened to be St Patrick's Day although I didn't know this. I picked a UB40 song for the music put on a dress that I had worn to my son's wedding and set off for the registry office, with my intended husband and financial adviser who would be our witness.

When we got to the office we found that we needed two witnesses. There was a police officer at the office who I knew, but she said it wouldn't look good if she had to suddenly leave (as she was on duty) so I went outside and asked passers by to be a witness for us as we didn't have time to phone a friend.

Some people said they were in a hurry but eventually, I found a dear old man who was wearing tatty sneakers and a cap. He was so thrilled to come with me and said that he and his beloved wife had been married in the registry office 35 years before and that we had walked past there everyday and never dreamed that this would happen.

He was so happy and refused anything for stepping saying that it had been an honour and a privilage to do it.

So far we have carried on being the best of friends and the little bit of paper hasn't made much difference to us anyway.

My dh and I started dating when I was 16 and still in high school. By the time that I graduated, he had been drafted into the army. After he came home, we both worked for awhile before we married. So, I met him in Feb. 1961, got engaged on Xmas day 1965 and we were married in Jan. of 1967, 42 years ago!
