I am for the most part just a lurker, I have visited this forum off and on for a few years. The first time I tried Atkins was back in 2001, I did induction and lost 15 lbs and then due to all the pressure from the Atkins Haters, I quit. Then again around 2003 I tried it again, I had the book I read the book and I found this board. I'd like to say that I lost all the weight and kept it off but no, I decided that time to do a low fat version of my own making. I did lose some weight but not as much as I would like about 12 lbs. (in about 12 weeks or so)
Then I just slipped back into my old habits I did again try Weight Watchers in that year and had mild success but later in 2004 I slipped and the weight piled back on with speeds that are not to be believed.
So in April of 2005 at my heaviest ever (227) I decided it was time to do something, I started back on Weight Watchers and by September I had lost over 30 lbs, but counting every piece of food that went in my mouth got tedeious, so I tried the "CORE" plan of Weight Watchers, and since I have always had trouble with stisfaction level I began to gain back up by the end of December I had gained back 8 lbs.(199.5) starting weight Atkins.
Now I had made up my mind that I was going to reach goal this time (160) but felt totally out of control, I have always recommended the Atkins plan to other people but just felt it wasn't for me, My Daughter wanted to lose weight so I loaned her my book and told her once you start this plan do not stop, bacuse if you stop it is so hard to get back on but it really works, she started it along in May of 2005 and so far has lost over 80lbs. (I am so proud of her for taking control of her eating).
So here I was and I thought what about another try at Atkins? I thought well I have nothing to lose, you see I read the book but it didn't sink in. So I came here and I read, and I read some more, So on Jan 8th 2006 I started it again this time with a new determination, I would listen to what my fellow low carbers had to say, I joined a board called sparkpeople (so I could track my percentages) at first I thought I'd do the lower fat version but then I thought no. Do what these people say, So here I am on my 11th day of induction, I am tracking and trying very hard to maintain my percentages of 65/35/5, I am eating veggies that for some reason I thought I couldn't have, a few tomatoes at breakfast yesterday even a little squash, and deep in keotosis.
I am amazed at how well this is helping my appetite! Sorry but I had to weigh and even with TOM, I am down 6 lbs! I finally SAW THE LIGHT!
So the main reason for posting is to say thank you to all who contribute to this board, Your knowledge your own experiences and helping to keep newbies on track.
Not to say that I haven't had some cravings, but when I can pass up doughnuts something is definately working for me!
Thank you Thank you!
