Hey there, I'm Dee. Today was my first day doing Atkins, and it wasn't as miserable as I expected it to be. I'm still eating things I like. My only problem is....caffiene. Is it really really bad for the Induction phase (and later phases)? I'm regularly getting 3 hours of sleep a night before classes and work, and don't know how I'll function in the morning. Thanks, I look forward to "meeting" you guys, and finding a niche for myself in this community!

Re: new and a little nervous...
Hi,
coffee has been my biggest problem too. I feel I have more energy since I started atknis so I dont need as much coffee.
First I reduced to one mug a day and now I hardly have one.
You can get energy from eating better and exercising.
good luck

Re: new and a little nervous...
I had a terrible time with coffee, too! I am on day #10 and have cut down to half a cup. Sometimes I don't even finish it, that totally blows my DHs mind!!!! I feel for you, three hours of sleep is NOT enough!!! You will have more energy on this WOL, and the exercise really helps (I was doubtful, but I was wrong!). Did you get the book?? You also need to take vitamins, with no iron and drink lots and lots of water. GOOD LUCK and WELCOME!!!
What would we do without it?

Mini-goal- 149 by June 1st. I can do it!!!

Re: new and a little nervous...
welcome to ADBB. Do a little research on caffeine as an insulin evoking chem and you will understand why it is bad for fat burning plans.

Re: new and a little nervous...
Congratulations! I remember you from when I first began, two years ago, congrats!
once again.
I am still half way there, trying to get the rest off. My biggest concern, and don't laugh, is the departure of Russel Stover candies. I can't believe they got rid of them I am so sad....................
anyway, Maybe I will see you in the chat room, i didn't know this was still going on.

Re: new and a little nervous...
Hello and welcome. To all of you who are having a problem with caffeine, let me just tell you my experience. I was a total complete addict. I was one of the ones who drank it upon rising, all day long and had my final cup at night before going to sleep. Coffee was my beverage of choice no matter what time of day.
I started Atkins and read in the book that Dr. Atkins suggests we don't drink coffee. I was so serious about losing this dreadful weight that I made a committment to myself to quit drinking coffee. Period. I did miss it at first but as I became more active in my exercise routine and more dedicated towards the program as I saw inches melting away. My energy level increased without the zip of caffeine that I thought I needed to keep myself moving. I got high on happiness.
I know our minds tell us we can't do it, but ADBB is here to encourage you to do it. You can and it is so worth the effort.
BEST WISHES and please keep us posted on your progress. Everyone here cares!Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

Dedication gives wings to our dreams and keeps them in flight! In One Word...COMMITTMENT.

Re: new and a little nervous...
I never was a big coffee drinker but I know what its like to quit a habbit. Recently I quit smoking, cold turkey. It sucks but it gets better. I feel your pain!
Good Luck and welcome to the board!
