    Hi everybody,

My name is Laura and I am a 22 year old college student. I have decided that tomorrow (2/22/06) will be my first day of Induction. I've been trying to start for a couple of days and I just haven't been able to get motivated. I figure that if I announce here that tomorrow is my start date, I'll actually DO IT.

I've done "Atkins" before, but I was one of those people who tried it without actually reading any of the books or really knowing anything about it. Now, I've read DANDR and I have ADBB which I can come to for support.

I have a couple quick questions that I'd be interested to hear your opinions about. 1. How many of you use diet sodas (made with Splenda)? Do you feel that they make you crave more or help to satisfy you? 2. How many of you use Atkins Morning Start or Advantage Bars? I'm worried that they would stall my weight loss, but I don't know if I could make it through without them!

Anyways, sorry this is so long! I just wanted to introduce myself and to say that I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys. I've looked at the Before/After Picture Section and I am so impressed and inspired by everyone's success!

    Re: New girl

Welcome to ADBB, Laura. Congratulations on starting induction. I'm sure you will do very well. As far as diet sodas, some experience stalls and cravings as a result of artificial sweeteners. During induction, you are limited to 20 gr of carbs per day and 3 total sweeteners. Each serving of splenda counts as one carb of your 20.

Stay away from the frankenfood. Eating real, natural food is best, especially during induction.

    Good luck!

:P I used to use Atkins bars...but I'm not sure if they stall you or not :S I used them mainly as a substitute at the lunch room if they weren't serving any carb free meals. Ever since I learned that sometimes your body WILL count those carbs

I try to go by Total Carbs, not Net Carbs. If you go by total carbs, then you KNOW REALLY how many carbs your body is getting ^_~
