  • Time to try for real

Hello everyone. I've been following Atkins for about two months, but I decided it was time to travel onto this thing called weight loss. I work in sales and go to school full time, so I don't necessarily have an abundance of free time. Let's just say that most of the people I work with also have some addictions to food.

The biggest thanks I have goes out to my friend John. He had done Atikins before, and had decided it was time to go back onto the diet (After reading the books, calling it a diet seems bizzare, but anyway.) I had foolishly tried Atkins before, but with no background information and no support. I surrendered to pizza and his friends, and went on with my life.

My girlfriend, who loves me dearly, never mentioned my weight gain. Mostly because it was hard to tell. I've always been heavy, including the four years that we've been together. By the time John and I decided to start Atkins, I was up to 325 lbs. I had always fooled myself that it wasn't as bad as it seemed. I'm a big man (6'5" and a former football player) so I always just dealt with my size. But it finally became time to do something.

My first six weeks have been amazing. I have lost fourty pounds already, and am under 300 pounds for the first time in as long as I can remember. I'm happy, I'm healthy, and I'm still committed.

I'm glad to have this kind of website in order to post just to get some support.

You'll get some pictures whenever I feel like I look good in them.

Until then, feel free to message me.

Destructor (Great name, by the way...) HELLO!

Welcome to our humble (and helpful) community! Congrats on your successes so far! You'll be sure to find all the info. support and encouragement you could possibly wish for right here at the ADBB. We have some very experienced members who seem to know just about everything there is to know, and I, for one, could not be where I am without them.

As an enourmous football fan myself, perhaps in Sept. when the NFL season gets back underway we can start up a thread in the chit-chat forum and get some good banter going. CFL will be up and running soon, but except for Ricky Williams going to the Agros, I'm not really that much of a follower.

Take care, good luck and keep us posted!

    S.
