  • Seriously considering the diet, a couple questions

Hey, one of my ex's bought me a plane ticket to Hawaii to come visit her this winter (lucky me, I live in Chicago), and I really wanna lose a ton of weight and be really in shape by that time (December 28th). I'm male, 5'6" and weigh about 185 pounds. I've been reading about it and think I'm going to go with the extended induction. I've started a fairly intensive exercise routine involving myself 6 - 7 days a week, 45 - 60 minutes a day (15 - 20 minutes circuit training, 30 - 40 minutes cardio). Do you think it would be possible for me to lose 30 - 40 pounds in like 80 days if I stuck strictly with the induction and kept up with that exercise routine?

And a couple questions: Not that I exactly plan to once I reach my goal, but how hard is it to transition off the Atkins diet. Could I slowly reincorporate carbs and avoid sudden weight gain due to transition?

And what should my average calorie intake be if I'm working off 500 - 600 calories a day to exercise?

Thanks a lot for any help you can give me!

we don't do cals for the day. On Atkins you listen to your body and feed your hunger and only your hunger some days that might mean 3000 cals worth and other days 700. it really depends on your metabolism and your activities.
Every time you eat have some protein some fat and some of your veggie carbs and when your hunger is satisfied even if you got food on the plate, room in your belly and/or carbs in your budget stop eating and pout it up. whenever you get hungry again you can eat again. Once you get your ketosis going you will be amazed at how fast your appetite is suppressed and how little you really need to be eating to satisfy your hunger.

The transitioning is called OWL that is the phase where we add back the healthy carbs in increasing glycemic rank starting with more of those yummy induction veggies and completing the trip with the grains in between we add back freash dairy, nuts and seeds, berries, alcohol legumes, fresh fruits and starchy veggies. As you can see Atkins is a means to eat for the rest of your life not just weight loss based n how your body handles foods on each of those rungs.

Its hard to go off Atkins because if you follow the plan from beginning to end, you learn which foods you can tolerate and which you can't. You slowly work up the ladder, testing your reaction, finding that magic number and in the end knowing which foods cause you to put on weight and which don't. This is one plan that is really for life

Why would you want to "go off" Atkins if you reach your goal? If you follow the plan, you will be eating from every food group anyway, only healthy eating, no junk! This is a Way of Life, not a diet! You can do it!

I think you should go for it and see! Wow it would be awesome to make your goal in 80 days wouldn't it! If not, well any weight you release is a step closer to goal!
I look forward to following your journey!
