  • Introducing myself...

Hello. This is my first post to any forum or bulletin board of any kind. All of your stories have somehow tugged at my inner-self and told me I should write a little something and say hi.

My weight, body size and shape have always been a part of my persona. I have always been fat. I was a fat child. I remember one day in particular that my entire 2nd grade class had to weigh themselves and write their weight on a elephant-shaped (perfect, huh?) piece of paper...I was 112 lbs. My peers were in awe. I played sports and was relatively active throughout high school, but I was unable to comfortably do regular things like fit into a restaurant booth comfortably or fly in an airplane. The flying was especially bad, as you all probably know. It is humiliating enough to have to ask the flight attendant for a seat belt extender, but to have her holler to her little friend at the rear of the plane to find one is just about as bad as it gets. You can feel the eyes straining to see the fat guy at the front. Not to mention the indentations on the sides of my thighs from the arm rests. I would avoid these situations at all costs. Instead of going out to dinner with friends or family, I would wait until everyone had gone then jump into my car and hit 2 or 3 different fast food joints. McDonald's is the real killer. I CAN NOT get away from their fries. Pretty depressing, huh. These are daily stuggles, and I wanted to share them with all of you. I thought by posting this ticker it would make me feel like you all were keeping me honest. Thank you for listening.

Hey there and welcome to the board! Looks like you are doing amazing so far, almost 30 pounds lost?! How long have you been at it?
Congrats at the loss so far, it's amazing to see that number go down! I too was a fat kid, and I remember the day I had to weigh myself in class I was 133 in 3rd grade, so we aren't too far apart It's a hard struggle but let me assure you it is so worth it.
Tell us about yourself, your family, what you have done before to lose weight.

I have another question too. My husband went to the doctor weighing at 371 and can't get onto my max 350 scale at home. What scale do you use at home? We keep looking for one. It's good that you have one though and know your starting weight. I keep wishing we knew RIchard's starting weight beacuse he's lost so much, would just be nice to know that number!

Good luck and hope you stick around!
