  • GOOD Morning!!

Hi all! I'm new to this forum, but not new to Atkins. "He" was my best friend after my 4th child was born (99)! I lost around 85lbs. and kept it off for a couple of years. And, then somehow I forgot that it is a way of life and NOT a diet.....so I'm back and desperate because it looks like my wish for bariatric surgery will never be granted. I am at the highest weight I have ever been, diabetic for a year now (insulin dependent) and pretty disgusted with myself at this point. My ultimate goal is to be at a "happy weight" (ideal) by the time my oldest graduates from high school (09). But of course, I want it way faster than that! I've done my shopping and found this forum and started my Fitday, so this is IT. My first day .....again. Wish me luck!

Thanks ladies. Now I just have to figure out how to train my dh. He is verbally supportive and he suggested revisiting Atkins--BUT he's the one who will bring home doughnuts as a treat for me!!! Aaaaaghh!!

                      Re: GOOD Morning!!

Thanks all! I'm off to the STAC thread. Morning Glory--I like your ticker! I was surprised when I got here that a lot of focus is on pounds..... so of course I made my ticker like everyone else's and made a mini goal for weight. But my understanding of Atkins was that weight was incidental--inches and following the book were more important.

Welcome Linda, just last week my husband brought home six apple dumplings so I could have some. He hears me every day complain about the weight I put on and how unhappy I am with that, but he keeps bringing goodies into the house. You will do fine.......Dawn

                          Re: GOOD Morning!!

You wouldn't believe how long it took me to get that ticker to work for inches lost instead of pounds! Did a lot of fiddling! And yes, taking measurements is a far more beneficial way to track your new, trimmer figure. I have a vague idea of what my weight was when I started (I weighed myself at Christmas and started Atkins this time around in March? April?). Anyways...I don't own scales. I go by the tape measure and by how clothes fit. Your weight will fluctuate from day to day so determining your success or lack of by what the scales say is really just another way to add stress to your life as far as I'm concerned. However, lots and lots of people simply can't give it up, and that's what works for them~~each to their own.

                          EDIT
