  • Doing Atkins without Bars or Shakes

Hello there, this is my second time around on Atkins and the first time worked a treat for years............I lost 15kilos and it stayed off until I quit smoking last year .....Now I'm back to 73kg again and hoping to lose the weight forever. However 3 weeks ago i started and when I weighed myself at the end of induction I had lost all of 1 kilo......I was devastated and couldn't understand as I was rigid...until i came accross the threads about frankenfood.....i had been having an Atkins Bar or 2 every day.
So Yesterday i stopped and already am getting the ketosis taste in my mouth...
Thanks for your good advice everyone.

    Current weight 70.5 Kg
    Goal 57 Kg

    Welcome to ADBB!

Good on ya for recognizing the bars for the devils that they are - to most folks, anyway!

I wish you the best of luck and success!

ro--I had the same problem when I started! I'd eat 2 bars and a shake every single day, and I couldn't figure out why the weight wasn't coming off like I thought it could. Luckily I stumbled across ADBB, read tons of posts, and did a CLEAN 2-week induction. It was the best decision ever! I haven't had a bar or shake since then. At first, I couldn't fathom how people could eat only REAL food...but now I can't imagine eating anything else.

Congrats on ketosis, and keep on reading those posts!

rolaidir! Welcome to the board. Ah-Hah! I'm glad you learned about the atkins bars so quickly. As I just told someone else, you only think you're having 2 or 3 net carbs. The reality is that they are loaded with frankenstuff as well as sugar alcohols. So you're really eating the full carb amount on those things, and what is that 18? So if you eat 2 per day, that's at least 36 carb grams right there! Fresh, whole foods are much better! Soon enough you'll be able to enduldge in a few legal treats!
