  • Loving this WOE but it all seems so confusing!?!

This is my first post but I've been on Atkins (this time) for a couple of months now. I'm struggling - not with sticking to the woe, or with weight/inch loss, but it just seems like so much work. I've been reading and reading and everything seems very confusing/contradictory (I don't have the 2002 edition of the book everyone talks of, only the 1999 edition, is there much difference?).

I enter everything into FitDay, as suggested, but I still feel like I am cheating. I must be, this is too easy... occasionally, I guess I have cheated. In the two months, I've probably eaten in total one full 100g bar of bitter (70% cocoa) chocolate, but not in the last few weeks. I still drink coffee, but not many diet drinks (other than red bull as an experiment this week to see if there are any benefits, and also for the B vitamins). My percentages on FitDay are the 65% fat, 30% protein, 5% carbs they are apparently supposed to be.

I don't know my start weight (I know, crazy) but one month in I was 190lbs and now I am 183lb, four of those which have come off in the last week (the red bull?). I eat far too many 'legal' treats (mock danish daily, coffee with cream and coconut oil and sweetener three times a day, etc) and not enough veggies (though I do try) and am sporadic with the water drinking. I do exercise in fits and bursts, but generally not really enough of it.

Hopefully, I can learn from everyone here, though. I look forward to getting to know you all.

Hi there and well done on your success so far. Yes the woe can be hard and confusing but I promise you that the more you do it the more it will begin to come to you naturally. Because every person is different it can be confusing to read that some people stall eating a certain thing and others don't etc. Some people do well with the bare minimum of exercise and others do better with a lot. I would plod on with what you are doing for the moment as you have seen progress, then try to tweak things from week to week.
You can learn an awful lot on this board and if you have the time it is well worth reading some of the stickies as they are written by very experienced people and although I have been doing Atkins a long time it always helps me immenesly.
One word on the Red Bull - I find that Diet RB, Crystal Lite etc. always always cause me problems (hindered weight loss) even if I am very strick with the food.
Welcome here and don't get too frustrated, you are in the right place and you seem to be doing well, I am sure you will get lots more responses and support.
    Good luck

Thanks Condor, I appreciate your comments. Thanks for the warning re the RB, I'll try cutting that out from next week to see if there's a change. It could be that I was ready to lose this week anyway, and the RB hasn't affected it, or has even slightly hindered it, or it could have helped. I guess you're right re the tweaking, too...

I've found the stickies, and other posts in general have been a wealth of information, you're right. This forum seems to be so supportive and friendly, it's wonderful to be amongst you all.

Hi Steffee! Welcome to the board. I see you have already found a few areas in which you could cut out "treats". You've done really well so far. There are differences in the two editions of books, but what you have will be perfectly fine for the most part. Good luck to ya!
