Hello all,
I started Atkins a week ago on the morning after my birthday. Not because I had gone 'wild' the night before, but because after quite a bit of introspection I had decided that I would begin the rest of my life with a new charter. I couldn't have a better spouse, or better kids, or a better job because all of those are absolutely perfect - but I could have a better body. I have been 50-70lbs. overweight my entire adult life and that's the one thing I wanted to change. I work full-time, I go to law school full-time, and I cook for the family among other things. I L-O-V-E, LOVE to cook so the variety in the meals have been great and easy for me to prepare.
In the past I have tried a million diets, food plans, or whatever you want to call them but have not been successful - I don't say failed because I have learned a lot along the way. As a matter of fact I have biked 500 miles across Alaska in six days for a fundraising event and was within 15lbs. of my goal weight, only to have since put all the weight back on.
So, here I am. Realistic, motivated, eager to learn, and ready to lose the weight. Week one netted me a loss of 7lbs. so I'm that much closer! Wish me focus and resolve in week two and beyond.
Lastly, I was wondering about staying in the induction phase. I am very comfortable with it and think I could stay within the boundaries for quite some time, but am not certain if I 'have' to move on - or what the benefits of moving on to the next phase would be.
Congratulations to everyone who has also decided to make a change in their life!
