I spent a great deal of time here back in 2006 (does anyone out there remember me?)
I lost 55 pounds eating the Atkins way -- and then got pregnant and, unfortunately, stopped coming here, and stopped eating the way I know I should. It's taken me 2 years to get myself back to a place where I'm able to spend time on ME again (those babies sure are demanding!)
But I've been back on the program for 3 weeks now, and have lost 14 pounds. I'm trying to lose 100 pounds, so I have a long way to go, but this is a great start.
About me ... let's see, I'm 37, married, and have the most wonderful 17 month old boy in the world. I live in Illinois, near the Wisconsin border. I am a stay-at-home mom, and do freelance web design and graphics work on the side from time to time. I love cats, reading, and, when I find time, (ha) I dabble in drawing and sketching on a VERY amateur level. I love thrift shopping, antique shopping, deal hunting, yard sales and things of that nature. I'll be honest -- I dislike gardening intensely, but I LOVE having flowers, fresh veggies, and a nice outdoor environment, so I do a lot of gardening and, over time, I've grown to hate it less. lol When I'm in better shape I love camping, hiking and fishing -- but as you can guess it's been a long time since I've done any of those, being as large and uncomfortable as I am! I like to travel, hang out with family and friends, and right now I mostly love being a mom.
I'd love to make some new friends here, and give and receive support as we make our ways down this road of weight-loss and regaining health. I do best when I have accountability, feedback and encouragement, so I know this is the right place for me.
I have to be honest, after only 3 weeks on the program I feel better than I have at any time in the past 2 years, have more energy, wake up more rested, and sleep better. Why do I ever go off?? When I lost 55 pounds back in 2006, I was the happiest I can remember being since I was a teenager. So, really, the numbers aren't my focus -- my bottom-line goal is to be HAPPY, HEALTHY and comfortable in my own skin, and to get back to doing the things I love in life.
That's about it. Thanks for reading. Here's my old intro from 2006 if anyone's interested: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ng-myself.html
