  • New and feeling rough...Ughh.....

    Hello everyone,

I could really use a bit of support right now. I went to my family reunion 2.5 weeks ago. Several of my family members had been on Atkins and it showed!
Of course, family reunions, being what they are, comments were flying about MY weight and how much "fluffier" I had gotten.

So, I absorbed as much info as I could from them in those two days and set off to start on it myself.

Without proper info, I began my low/no carb diet. The first week I lost 5 lbs right away. The second week I was dying fior sugar. So I concocted something made of cream cheese, lemon flavoring, Vanilla, and Splenda. Tasted just like cheesecake! It worked! However, it seems now in the 2.5 weeks I have only lost 7 lbs. I'm so stinking disappointed

This site has alot of different paths and I have been trying to read as much as I can, but still not sure how to navigate.

Anyway, I want to do this in a bad way...but I think I have screwed it all up.

Is it to much of a problem to restart the induction phase so soon?

    Sorry to be a bummer.

You need to lose a total of 30 pounds. You lost 7. You could have been excited to lose 3 pounds! During induction, you do well if you lose 10 percent of the total weight you need to lose, so you have done smashingly well.

This isn't a crash diet. It is a way to change your total eating pattern so that after you make it to 125, you can continue to eat in such a way that you stay slim and lively.

Do you have Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, have you read it? And hey.. your cream cheese 'thingie' didn't hurt you. Many of us rely on cream cheese for the occasionaly Splenda sweetened treat.

You will learn your way around the boards, and we will be happy to support you.

Thank you, thats what I needed to hear!

They all went on about how effective, and rapid Atkins was. It is good to know I didn't screw it all up.

      I was soo disappointed.

I'm learning as I go. Now I need to get the book!

I guess my concern is, at 2.5 weeks, I have not lost a pound in 7 days. Is that normal for induction?

You can return to induction any time. Be careful of the amount of servings you are having of the cream cheese dessert. I had something similiar yesterday and it is VERY yummy. But I have a feeling that may have slowed my losses for this morning ( I am a daily weigher) I exceeded my cheese allowance for the day and I'm betting that is why I lost only 2 ounces. Be sure to read the 2002 version of the atkins book (DANDR) and in the meantime check out the induction forum and read the sticky's. It will give you a place to start.

              Oh Thank you flpooh...

That very well could be it... I'm definately a cheese eater and probably should watch my intake more closely.
