Hi Folks,
Just wanted to introduce myself.
I'm 24 and on Atkins for the second time. I started it in college about 4 years ago and thought it went rather well for me. I think what was easiest about it at the time is I didn't have to worry about not having enough options because our dining hall had everything. And I worked at the gym, so there was plenty of incentive to workout.
Now I'm in grad school, and it's really not as much "fun" anymore. Just before I started Atkins again I was taking in scary amounts of carbs, mostly in the forms of desserts, and I went cold turkey the next day, and my body hasn't reacted in the way I want it to.
I'm in day 11 of induction and had been following it precisely until day 9. I don't know if it was because my cycle started or if my body finally recognized the change, but I woke up in the middle of the night for some reason and then started feeling faint. It's a pretty scary feeling. I felt like I needed some sort of sugar, so I had an all fruit bar (10carbs). That day, I only consumed 10 more carbs under the Atkins way, and felt okay afterwards. But since that day, I haven't been eating much. And I'm not sure if I'm getting the 20 carbs per day. Most of the reason for that is because my body is rejecting savory foods at this point. I cannot get through the meal without feeling like it will come back up. I'd like to think this is a good thing, but now I'm not so sure my body should be wanting only sugars.
I'm just trying to make it through the next 3 days, so that I can implement some atkins bars into my diet, which should help considerably.
