  • New to Atkins

    Hello! My name is Sherri and I'm just starting the atkins plan as of January 5, 2009. I have been heavy all of my adult life. Like many others, I've tried numerous diets, etc. Each time I've always gained back what I lost, plus some. Due to some health issues, my husband told me he would do this with me. Actually he came up with the idea. He actually likes me bigger, and loves me no matter what size I am...but also wants to keep me around for a few years.

    Starting out, I weighed 238 on the 5th. As of this morning I weighed 227.4 so I'm making progress! I was really panicky last week because I initially dropped 8 pounds quickly, and then for a week I fluctuated between two pounds, even though I had not cheated. I was pretty discouraged during that time. Friday, however, it started to roll again and I've lost another 3 1/2 pounds or so. I wonder if that happens a lot to people? To reach a platuau of sorts.

    Anyway, my goal is to get healthy and to finally look good! Beauty is definitely on the inside, but I want to have self confidence again, and feel that I am no longer missing out on different things in life.

    The diet has beem amazingly easy to follow. I really don't even crave sweets anymore at all. This is something I could see myself staying on forever. Yesterday was the real test though. We went to Applebees and I didn't even think twice about turning down that baked potato! I ate my veggies like a good girl and they were good!!

    So, we'll see how things go!! Say a prayer for me!

    Great to have you on board. IMO, atkins is the easiest diet to follow because you don't have to starve yourself like on other diets. Other diets put too much attention on calories, which in return equals starvation. Your doing great with the weight loss. Keep it up.
