Hello all! I'm new to this forum, and to the correct way to do Atkins.
I tried Atkins a few years ago, but I now know I did it all wrong. I learned the 'rules' from my cousin in the spring of 2003 and tried it with him. Neither of us read the book. Turns out he had his info wrong, so we loaded up on cheese (waaay more than 3-4 ounces a day), hotdogs, bacon and 'sugar-free' candy. No veggies. No oil. No butter. No fiber. Too many nitrates and sugar alcohols. No wonder I only lasted a week before quitting because I felt like crap.
Back then, I was two years out of college and only had 15 pounds to lose. Over the past few years, my weight's shot up due to quitting smoking and depression over my father's passing, along with my unhealthy obsession with junk food and Tivo. Last week, I finally decided enough is enough!
I read DANDR to see EXACTLY how it should be done and discovered that I was barely doing ANYTHING right six years ago. I'm determined to do it correctly this time, and to continue with lifetime maintenance once I reach my goal. I don't want to be addicted to sweets anymore! I want to be happy and healthy and thin and cute again!
I'm on Day 11 and I've lost 6.5 pounds so far (hovering around the same weight for the past four days now). Hopefully, weight loss will pick up again, and I'll be able to reach my goal by the end of the year.
