My name's Emre, and I started the Atkin's diet after a friend at the office suggested it. I bought DANDR, and it seemed to make sense, so I started off in Induction on 28th April 2009. I've been lurking here since soon after, and I thought I'd join and say hello to everyone.
Everyone here seems to be non-metric, so I'll comply.
I hit my height of 6' 1" when I was thirteen, and weighed (an excessively low) 143 pounds. After playing catch-up a bit until I was 21, I've gained about three pounds (on average) every year since then, and was 216 when I started the diet. My goal is to lose something like 30-40 pounds. It has been a very long time since I was that weight, so I'll be re-assessing the situation when I'm down to something like 196. I may decide to stick with the program until 186 or go further to 176. Atkins.com suggests I should aim for 170-190 pounds, so I guess I'll be fiddling with the carbs one I reach 196 or so to keep up or slow down the pace.
I've done one week of induction now, and am slowly losing weight. I guess I must be retaining water because while I've only lost 2 pounds or so, my clothes fit much more comfortably. Not surprising, since I'm guzzling not less than 100 ounces of water a day!
I've decided to stick with induction for one more week, and then (sort of) a third week, where I experiment daily with my extra 5 grams of carbs.
As for exercise, I feel too heavy to jog, and it is not warm enough to swim yet, so sticking to 30-45 minutes of walking a day for now. Will start some mild weight training in week 3
I have had no problems following the diet religiously (in fact, I am so obsessed with it, it enters my dreams), but I am beginning to get very serious sugar cravings. I wasn't a very big dessert person, but for some reason, chocolate truffles are dancing in front of my eyes as I type this message. I have a funny feeling that I shall be trying out the DANDR recipe in about a week's time.
See you all around!

I appreciate that. We do have quite a few who report in kg or stones, but I must admit that unless I google a conversion, I have no idea what it means.
