  • Day 4 of Induction

Hello, I am new to this board and new to Atkins. Not that i haven't tried it in the past. I have started Atkins probably 5 times before but never made it past the first week. I am truly a carbaholic and I just could not live without my carbs. At least I felt like I couldn't. I am trying once more. My motivation is my high school reunion.

I have already read some GREAT tips. Thanks

I don't know if I did my ticker right.

    Linda

Good Luck. I'm just starting today, well for the 3rd time. Its hard to start but its definetly worth it when you see the results. You have a great motivation - nothing gets you into old sizes like knowing your going to see your high school friends.

      Re: Day 4 of Induction

Welcome to both of you --

Once you get into keotsis (which should be a few days if you are eating correctly according to plan) the carb cravings and sugar cravings should subside.

Check the stickies at the top of the induction forum to refresh your memory on the plan. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/5781-before-you-begin-atkins-nutritional-approach.html.

At the top of the induction page you’ll find a condensed version of the book - http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html. Make a copy of this list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html - take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin without iron (you should get enough iron with the foods you are eating on Atkins).

Check all around the board for everything there is to, there is a challenge section with both exercise and non exercise challenges, Rate My Menu for help with your food, journaling – something for everyone.
Check the STAC Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet for additional support.

The recipe sites are a helpful meal planning tool – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

Hi, to get your ticker working right, paste in the "BB" code rather than the HTML code you have there now.

            Welcome to ADBB, Linda!

If you copy the BB code in your signature, you won't have to paste it every time you post. Makes things much easier, I think. To go to your signature, click on Quick Links then on Edit Signature. Quick Links is circled in red in the image below, in case you can't find it.

Thank you so much Cindy. This is the longest I have lasted on Atkins (5 days so far) but I am starting to get a bit bored and hungry for some carbs. Your message came at a perfect time. I would love any suggestions people have for breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks.

thanks. I really want to do it this time.

You should already be eating "carbs" -- unless you mean starches. For breakfast eggs are a good choice, many ways to serve them - check the ever ending induction recipe link I sent you for Mock Danish - it's delicious.

Make sure you get some veggies in each meal - they will help you feel full longer and keep your blood sugar at a more constant place...you won't crave things as much.

Drink plain water throughout the day - this also helps keep you feeling full.

Check the list of acceptable food and the recipe links for meal suggestions.
