I am not new to atkins, I have tried it a few times before and did ok, but gave in. Now I feel that this is my last chance to get it right. I have to stick with this and make it work. I have been overweight as long as I can remember. The scales have went up and down so many times, through so many fad diets. I am so determined this time for the right reasons. I have always wanted to lose weight just for the way I feel about myself, but now I am getting older and I must do this for my health. I am so ready to feel better and not act like some old person that can't get around. I am so looking forward to getting this weight off!!!!

Don't compare what happened “the last time” or on another diet -- start fresh and do this for yourself! You struck a chord with me, I was tired of feeling much older than I am because of my weight and because it held me back - I'm really starting to enjoy the person I always knew was inside.
Follow the plan the way it is written – hopefully you have a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR). If you don't www.amazon.com or www.half.com have inexpensive copies. Start exercising right away, drink plenty of pure water (64 ounces minimum daily – nothing added) and you’ll be on your way to loosing before you know it – don’t forget to get all your vegetables in daily!.

Make a copy of this list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html - take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).

Also look at the challenge section to see if there is anything you might be interested in.

Carole has some great advice. Don't get hung up on whatever has happened before. Start this with a clean slate and a complete commitment to a new way of living. Be positive.

Thanks so much for all the information! I am so excited about life again. I had basically given up on losing weight and was just going to accept being obese and unhealthy. No chance of that now, I am digging in with everything I have and I also realize now that I don't have to be perfect. I am not going to get it right all of the time and that it is ok to mess up; but get right back up and carry on! Thanks again!
