Hello! I joined this forum last year when I decided to do atkins induction. I did atkins 6 years ago quite successfully, but have since become a vegetarian. As you can imagine, it's impossible to do a vegetarian atkins. But I put that aside for a month last year due to weight loss frustration to see if atkins could help and perhaps curb what had become some serious carb cravings! Well, it helped a little, but I stopped because I just couldn't keep eating all the meat. However, that month last year led me to this board, and I love all of the low carb info, support, and especially the challenges!! So it's a new year and I'm back...following a lower carb veggie diet that consists mostly of eggs, veggies, beans and legumes, nuts, fish, some fruit, some whole grain pastas, and steel cut oats. My goal this year is to keep eating clean! I put myself as "pre-maintenance" since I figured this was what my diet was closest to on the atkins scale. I hope it's ok for me to putter around this board since I'm not officially an atkins dieter. Thanks everyone!

Re: Kinda new...again...
did you know Dr Atkins treated folk who were vegetarians with his plan too? ADBB had its very own vegetarian in contact with the Atkins office while she was doing her induction back in 2003. She was told to use tofu and Bocca products as her protein sources during induction. I'm sure with all the new meat free products out there you could use other products too. There used to be a stickie in the FAQ qith her info about doing it as a vegetarian. Missy99 is her nic.

It's actually possible: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...egetarian.htmlAs you can imagine, it's impossible to do a vegetarian atkins."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."
