  • In a sugar coma

    Hi,

I'm new to Atkins and this board. I am finally ready to accept that I am a carb addict. I ate almost pure carbs for breakfast and then just munched on cheez-its and sweet cereal. I ride my bike to school 2 or 3 times per week (4 miles each way) and bowl 2 games three times per week. I also walk with my family 2 1/2 miles a couple of times per week and I am still not losing any weight. I would like to use the standard lingo of, "those others diets didn't work," but the truth is I didn't stick to them. I was always hungry and I now understand why. I am tired of being overweight and a slave to food.

I am going to begin this new way of eating tomorrow morning and I pray that my family will be understanding as I already know what my moods are going to be like for the next couple of days.

I look forward to hearing tips and encouragement from others.

You're reading Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002), right?

What do you have planned for tomorrow?

I have read the book in the past, but quit. My plan for today is to purchase some more of the foods on the acceptable list as well as some decaf green tea. I have been drinking regular green tea as I have been working on breaking a Diet Coke habit.

My plan for tomorrow is to eat 4-5 small meals containing eggs, fish, and chicken along with the allowed amounts/types of veggies. I will be at school most of tomorrow, which will make it easier to avoid the fridge.

How does that sound? Any more tips/advice?

            >>I have read the book in the past,>>

You really need to read it ... and not quit reading it!

Green tea isn't water ... you need a MINIMUM of 64 ounces of water.

            Advice ... plan, plan, plan.

Since you are eating fish and chicken, which don't have a lot of fat, you should add some fat to your meals.

Atkins is a high fat diet.

Thanks, I'll do that. I have olive oil on hand and I traded margarine for butter years ago, so I have that as well. I'll read more tonight so that I'm ready for the morning.

                Thanks,
