I just began reading about the Atkins Diet online and am ordering the book. I have copied the Rules of induction and the Acceptable foods.. copy at the house and the office! I had a former boss who lost 90lbs on the Atkins diet 7 years ago.. she still maintains a great weight and figure. I was NEVER fat or had to worry about weight.. until the 40's hit! I just had another birthday and finally am sick of hearing myself say that I was fat and needed to lose the weight. Denial has kept me from committing to any form of dietary process.. until I saw another picture of me with my new Granddaughter, I couldn't believe the way I looked. So, I started following the Induction 5 days ago. I have prepared my cupboards, fridge and family.. I like that I can shop at the grocery store for my foods and not eat frozen prepared meals that leave me feeling bloated and hungry. The first 3 days, I had more energy than I expected. Today I have a migraine and am feeling pretty sluggish and foggy. I am serious about it and don't want to blow it and start over. I love the blogs, recipes, success stories and support here. Looking forward to the results and the change in eating habits. mostly look forward to losing the 30 extra pounds. I am starting at 180. I am 5'9 and can hide it well since it's in my mid section and back. I am happiest and healthiest at 150. Annual check up was great except the "mildly obese" diagnosis! So, here I go. would love to hear from anyone that has a minute to drop a line or two

Re: Introduction to Induction- first time
great introduction. Yes those 40s did me in too but I was never exactly thin. I did get a thyroid issue. Did you have your checked lately.
So are you following the rules here. We do Atkins 2002 here at ADBB.
A grand daughter aren't you the lucky one.
My daughter just left for California I hope you have some good weather over there.

Re: Introduction to Induction- first time
Welcome to the board, sounds like you are getting into ketosis. Don't worry the blahs won't last long. Take pain meds if you need them to help with the headache and get you through. No reason to suffer.
Sounds like you have a great attitude, good luck.

Re: Introduction to Induction- first time
I just started Monday, 4/5 and Tuesday I started to ache everywhere. My knees and back. Thought I was going to never get to sleep last night because of the pain but today nothing. Hope you feel better soon!
