  • It's nice to see so much support for everyone

Hello, I am in my 40's and not new to this diet but it's been along time since I was. I know as we get older it gets harder and harder to take these pounds of. It was only two years ago when I lost my job and then now find my weight at a place I never thought it would be again. It is hard to get on the as I put it "the wagon". But I am determined to get it off. I have tried all kinds of things this past year but known work, this is the only diet that has ever worked for me. I just hope I remember how to do it again. Since I lost my book and don't have the means to get a new one. So I been reading alot on here about the induction phase and it seems to be coming back to me. The caffine and alcohol will be the hardest for me I think. Well I will let ya know as it goes.

Well welcome back to this Way of Life/Eating! It is good that you know what works for you and that you have realized this is the best thing for you!

It does really help if you can read the book and have it for a reference. I know I constantly read through parts of it and find new things I didn't remember. If I can recommend...try the ARC Thrift Shop or the Goodwill??? I found 3 copies of the DANDR book there for around a dollar each (picked a few up for friends) and see them often at Goodwill too. You can buy them used on Amazon.com too for only a few bucks. Just a suggestion, having the book handy really does help.

This board is a great way to feel supported when going down this journey, I hope you continue with us and ask questions as you need to!

    Mini Goals:
212 lbs. (10% of me gone)

    157 lbs. (old average weight)

    125 lbs. (Almost there)

Welcome and good luck finding a copy of the book for the price you can afford. It really is a helpful thing if you can swing it.

        Glad to have you around!

I am so fustrated. I have been on this diet for three weeks. Been in Ketosis the whole time and have lost nothing. Eating all the right things. 15 net carbs veggies. I am just so down. Can anyone be in ketosis and not lose weight for a whole month.

              I had decaff coffee
              string cheese snack
chicken breast w. bacon cheese .25 cup of mushrooms
              .5 cup of green beans.
1 cup snow crab with butter
small tossed plain salad 1 tbs ranch

that is a typical day quite similar

I am still induction. But I do admit I haven't taken any measurments before or now but my clothes feel the same.

                    Did you check the library?

I don't see how you get 15 net carbs from vegetables if this is a typical menu. 1/4 cup of mushrooms has 0.4 net carbs. 1/2 cup of green beans has 2.1 net carbs. That's 2.5 net carbs from vegetables.

And I don't know what's in your salad... but no small salad has 12.5 net carbs worth of vegtables.

What source are you using to find nutritional info?

I also doubt you are eating enough calories. Do you have an idea how many you are consuming, on average? Undereating will only slow down your metabolism, making weight loss more difficult.

I would recommend tracking your foods in FitDay, so that you know exactly how much you are eating:

FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal

You can make your FitDay page public, and then we can take a look and make more suggestions.

I do use fit day and it is public. I now have lost like 2-3 lbs and took my measurements for the first time wed. So we will see. I think I was just really upset when I wrote that because it's just taking so long. I have to remember I am not a spring chicken anymore.
