    Re: Re-induction

I am completely leaving off Splenda now. Will see if it is responsible for triggering the cravings and raging hunger.

I am so sad that cravings sabotaged my low-calorie plan this past week. Have had some very high calorie days.

I am still maintaining my 2.8 pound whooshie, but haven't lost any more, and have only tomorrow remaining on my re-induction.

But if I have pinpointed the cause for the hunger, then it will have been worth it.

      Re: Re-induction

Hi Sunny! I'm sorry to hear that you are still sick! I was hoping you were better by now. Could it be the meds you are on for your infection that's causing the extreme hunger? Maybe you should just try to maintain until they are gone.

As for a snack, the thing that helps me the most is just plain celery. I have a small clear glass pitcher that I fill with celery and water, and place it on the eye-level shelf in the fridge so that when I find myself gazing into it looking for something to eat, I grab half stalk. It's only 6 calories and 1 carb per whole stalk and all the crunching cures my munchies!

Have you ever tried SweetnLow instead of Splenda? It's allowed on Atkins and it works better for me, so if you need something sweet, it might work without causing cravings.

        Re: Re-induction

        Hi Blueberrylady,

Usually when I am hungry, nothing will help but protein. But I do love celery, especially with a little cream cheese. That is pretty satisfying.

I have decided to eliminate the artificial sweeteners altogether. After the first of the month, I am going to order stevia and try it.

I can't believe the difference in my hunger level this morning since I didn't add Splenda to my coffee. I still feel very satisfied from breakfast!

Wow - I can't imagine Splenda having that much of an effect on you but it's great that you have been able to pinpoint the problem and eradicate it from your daily food. You are going to beat this yet!! I'm so proud of you on your success this far on re-induction!! Keep up the great work

            Re: Re-induction

            Thanks, Carole.

I think my one whooshie is all I am going to get out of this induction since my appetite was so huge several days.

But I still am not hungry this evening and so the next couple of weeks should show an improvement.

              Re: Re-induction

Stevia isn't as good as spenda, it has a funny after taste, but for some reason I love it in yogurt, so if I could eat yogurt...Fred Meyers has it if you have one of those around as does Trader Joes, health food stores and I've even seen it at WalMart with the diabetic stuff.

How are you doing Sunny. Besides being AWOL and not losing, I am fine and not gaining.

                  Re: Re-induction

I had a couple of very high calorie days. I ate salty parmesan fried chicken last night plus added an extra 1/2 c. diced tomatoes as my first step on OWL.

And I had gained 1.5 pounds this morning.

I'm hoping it was mostly due to the salt.

Anyway, today my calories are under 1200, and I haven't had the first bit of hunger, so maybe I can keep it up for a few days.

Glad you're back. I really missed you!

it sounds like you are having a better day Sunny!! Good for you -- the calorie total sounds like enough to keep you feeling full and enough to keep your body from believing it's starving. I have my fingers crossed for you for the next couple days!!
