    Re: I re-start 3/16/09

I keep forgetting to post this...I have 4 spears of asparagus that are up in my garden....LOL -- not enough for a meal, but at least it grew! I'm bored today so I've had to keep myself away from the kitchen or I know I'd be in the refrigerator. I don't think I've had enough fat and that's why I'm hungry.....I'll have to plan tomorrow's meals better.

      Re: I re-start 3/16/09

Hi everyone! It's raining here in PA and we really need it so I'm not complaining.

Sunny, I know how you feel about taking the dog to the groomer. I procrastinate too! Right now my all white American Eskimo is charcoal gray! Our groomer is a relative and was here last week and told me to make an appointment but I haven't yet because our yellow Lab is having problems. We took her to the vet yesterday and it cost us $252! She has been battling Lyme Disease for several years now and it's gets expensive but they are hoping to get her cured this time. Here's hoping they do.

Today is my weigh day and I was up 2 lbs. I just can't seem to get it off and keep it off. I've already cut out most cheese, except for the little bit of shredded I put in my salads but I even skipped that at lunch. Now I have to work on not eating after supper because that's what does me in.

I've been wanting to put up a picture for a long time but I'm not very good at working with them. I don't know how to get the size right so I don't even try. I don't know how to delete them if I get it wrong but one of these days I'll do it.

Carole, I hope your Mom gets better soon. I know it must be a awful worry to you to see her sick. And the pics of your meals are beautiful. It's true that meals that look good, taste good too!

Carole, I just saw your pictures and there is a definite difference in them. You are getting thinner and it shows. Keep up the good work!

          Re: I re-start 3/16/09

Carole, I can just picture your cutting those 4 little asparagus spears! Hope they tasted wonderful!!!

Nyna, it has rained here two days. I'm so grateful for the rain, but so GLAD that there are breaks in the clouds and I can see blue sky!

What are your calories working out to?

I've had to cut mine way back. Fortunately I don't have that raging appetite any more, so it's been easy.

Am waiting to weigh again until Monday morning.

            Re: I re-start 3/16/09

Sunny, I didn't cut the asparagus yet, it's hardly out of the ground...LOL!!!!! But I can't wait until it's ready...I'll post the pictures when that day comes!!!

Nyna -- I use www.Photobucket.com to set up my pictures...you can size them before you upload them there, then they aren't so huge...I've seen some pictures that are huge here .... that's ridiculous! After your pic is uploaded it give you the link to add your picture to your siggie...it's super easy or I wouldn't be doing it!!! My husband is the computer wizzard here (he's a Senior Programming Engineer for a major company that keeps Wall Street up and running online) not me, so if I'm going to do anything on the computer it has to be pretty simple!

              Re: I re-start 3/16/09

ok here is my puny asparagus....look hard, 2 of them are there!!! LOL

I took mom to the doctor this morning...she has bronchitus so he gave her Levaquin ($13.56 a pill) 1 a day for 7 days...if she hasn't gotten any getter by the time the pills are gone I'm suppose to take her back to see him. She had a pneumonia shot 2 years ago and I'm very happy for that now! While I went to get the prescription filled she tried to sleep but when I got back she was up trying to eat chicken noodle soup...she managed to get a few spoonfuls in then took the pill and went to bed. She's finally sleeping and I hope she can get a couple hours of sleep to get that antibiotic working in her system. Hopefully she'll be feeling better in a few days.

                Re: I re-start 3/16/09

The asparagus is so cute! I have some asparagus seeds, but have almost decided to buy the starts at the feed store instead of waiting for the seeds to germinate.

Glad your Mom got medicine. Sure hope it helps. (What an exorbitant price!)

                  Re: I re-start 3/16/09

Sunny, last year I got a package with 4 or 5 two year old asparagus plants in it and planted them. I honestly didn't know if I was planting them upside down or rightside up because it was hard to tell but obviously I planted at least 4 of them right!! I had fern last year but this year here the little cuties are! I'm going to get another package of them again this year...I have them planted in a small burm at the corner of our lot where I plant flowers. The asparagus comes up first, then I'll plant some flowers later.

I was on the Michigan Bulb website tonight looking at all the pretty flowers. I have another corner of the yard where I can't get anything to grow (except weeds) so I was thinking of putting lillies and other flowers there that will spread, then I won't have to worry about it looking like an empty lot in my yard. I'll probably order a bunch of asiatic lillies from them tomorrow.

Waiting on the snowstorm to hit....we are suppose to get up to 4 inches. I feel so sorry for the people in North Dakota -- they need a break!

                    Re: I re-start 3/16/09

Carole, lilies are a wonderful idea. About 15 years ago I planted some asiatic lilies by Mom's driveway in north Florida. They still come up every year and are beautiful.

I need to get some planted here. I don't know why I haven't... I think it's just looking at the price of the bulbs and deciding that they can wait a year.

I am really looking forward to the gladiolas coming up. I planted them because I got a huge bag of bulbs at Sams at a good price. But they have to be lifted every year if you want to replant them next year. I doubt I will do that.

I think your baby asparagus are adorable!

Lillies aren't that expensive at www.michiganbulb.com - and they come with a warranty and ship them when they are ready to plant in your growing area. I've bought from them before and have had no problems with them... right now they have Red Storm Border Lillies 10 for $14.27 $6.99 -- they are just beautiful!! They also have some items where you buy 10 and get 10 free.... check them out

So did you get your snow. We had a half inch on Saturday and I am purely sick of it. Last year we had Junuary (winter in June) and I just think I am going to head south for the winter. I think of all the pretty little girls in their pretty little Easter overcoats. LOL

We got about an inch of snow, but it was gone by about 1:00 p.m. The lawn is wet because of the snow but the grass is still growing....I'm going to have to mow again by the end of the week....sheesh! It's too early to start this crap.....

                            ok here are todays meals.....

breakfast: the usual with a twist - I added asparagus spears...that was good for a change. Of course I had 30oz of water and a cup of coffee w/splenda

this was leftover fried chicken from last night (what I couldn't eat), so I cut it into thin slices & melted swiss cheese on top, 2oz of broccoli and 3 radishes cut up. I also have 1tsp of Hellman's that I dunked everything in and of course, my trusty 30oz water jug.

3oz hamburger pattie w/1/2 slice of cheddar cheese, a combo of 2oz broccoli, 2oz cauliflower and snow peas, a salad w/ranch dressing and 1slice of cheese made into cheese chips. The small bowl is 1tsp of 1carb ketchup and 1tsp mustard mixed together. There were also 3 hamburger pickle slices on the side of the bowl, a 30oz jub of water and coffee afterwards.

Today was a real yummie day! Ya'll have to come over for a meal!! LOL

Oooooh, I'd LOVE to come over for a meal, Carole. Your pictures are beautiful!!!

Lynne, we had ICE here in northwest Georgia last night. I am ready to head south, too! Sure wish we could move back home to Florida.... at least until July!

Carole, I took pictures of my garden for you today, but the surrounding weeds and grass are so high, I would be humiliated to post them.

We will get the new lawn mower next week and after I get the place groomed a little I will post pictures.

Fortunately we live out in the woods so don't have any close neighbors to give us disapproving looks until we get the new mower!
