Kerianne, yes, that is one of the side effects if you don't need it or if you overdose. Irritability and headaches are other potential side effects.

For me, the supplement is right. I slept like a baby last night...perhaps the most peaceful sleep I've had in years.

Here is part of a letter I wrote to someone who PM'd me asking for more information. I am posting it because others may find it helpful:
      ----

If your doctor finds that you do need prescription meds, I would recommend you go that route. Supplements can fill in gaps, but in many cases, more is needed. I know that I would probably do better on a prescription.... I am just so leery of falling into the ever-increasing prescription routine --with the known and unknown side effects--that seems to characterize much of modern medical practice.

My doctor was bent and determined to get me on a statin. He tried 5 different kinds at different dosages.... and they all eventually had the effect of causing me extreme muscle pain and fatigue (along with the danger of liver damage). I decided that I would do better on Atkins reducing my cholesterol as much as I could by following a low carb diet.

I have it posted in the Stallbusters forum. Quite honestly, I hesitated to post it in the main forum because there are so many people who will take anything that they think will help them lose weight... even if it's not appropriate for them.

And there are side effects. If you don't need it... or if you overdose... it can cause headaches, irritability, heart palpitations and other side effects.

That's why I started with a single dose once a day and worked up as I analyzed how my body was responding.

Here is one article that you might find helpful.

statins are EVIL!!!! hopefully you're not on them anymore.

I am happy though, to hear, that you've found something that works. From the sounds of it (not from the weight loss perspective, obviously) but more over the fact that it helps your overall mood - yes, I'd LOVE to try it...but yeah - maybe I'll see if my vitamin shoppe carries it.

Thanks for the link - i'll look into em!

Kerianne, if you have ANY heart rhythm problems, I would strongly advise you NOT to try it.

Since that is a known side effect of overdosing... and who knows what your tolerance is... it is probably not worth taking the risk.

Just read your "lied to" thread.... I didn't have much to add so didn't respond, but wanted you to know it was a wonderful post!

And no, I refused to take statins after my misadventures with them!

it's funny - my bread and butter comes from the pharmaceutical industry (i work for a pharma research / data company) and yet i'll be the first one to say this country is WAY too over-medicated it's rediculous....in fact part of me seriously believes in the conspiracy that the pharmaceutical industry and the government are trying to keep us fat because drugs and the diet industry are two of the biggest money makers! ya know?
