Today we decided to postpone a coworkers going away party until more people could attend so I thought I could fight through the temptation of desserts and have the evening free. That is, until......the President asked me to get lunch for the company and they chose Lebanese! AAAAAAAH!!!
Do they not know that I dream of falafels? That I wake up crying when m'saka and lebneh make an appearance...and all that bread!!!
But I did it. I ordered all my favorite Lebanese food and brought it into our conference room, set it up all nice, and proceeded to heat up my leftover carb-friendly meal I had brought. My soul sank as I watched my coworkers devouring my favorite foods while I ate my sauteed veggies and pork.
Then it happened. Someone said "hey, Jacqui, you can have m'saka and baba gannoughe, right? Its just veggies." My soul flew! Veggies! I can have those!

In looking the meal over again I realized that yes, m'saka had eggplant, tomato, and onion, and that baba was made from eggplant too! I grabbed a spoon of each (maybe 4 tbsp total) and slapped it on my plate, finished my leftovers while eyeing it, and then began the exquisite process of enjoying each small bite of the Lebanese delights. Then it hit me. CHICK PEAS! M'saka has CHICK PEAS! In that 4 tbsp serving of m'saka and baba I had probably ingested 3-4 chick peas and who knows what else...did they stew the m'saka in something with sugar? I didn't know! What about the baba? That was so delicious it probably has sugar in there somewhere too!
My record of 25 straight days without cheating, not even a morsel, was ruined....by m'saka. Now, some may say it was more of an Oops than a cheat...but lets be real...I knew the food wasn't Induction legal, I knew I was taking a chance, and while I didn't realize it until it was too late I did eat items I'm not suppose to.
However, to my credit, my immediate thought was "Well, I screwed up. Hey, there are still a few donuts in the kitchen! I already messed up, whats a donut now?"
No, no, I did not stray any further than my Lebanese Lament. Just goes to show you....m'saka is the true tool of the Diet Devil!

And probably will be ideal to eat on OWL (if it can be made without added sugar).
Yeah it can be tough sometimes. So we have to keep our goal in mind.
