  • Stuffed Jalapenos

Raw jalapeno peppers (end cut off and seeds removed)
    Cream Cheese
    Bacon

Stuff cream cheese inside the pepper, wrap it in bacon, making sure to cover the open end. The ones I tasted had been cooked on the grill outdoors and were delicious. They are approximately 1 carb per pepper. They could most likely be baked or fried in a pan also.

I like spicey, but I find Jalapenos really hot!

Would you take a big bite, or little bits at a time ?

Jalapenos are not spicy, the seeds are, you have to take out ALL the seeds, and it should be fine. If you have zero tolerance for spicy stuff, small bites definitely, I forget sometimes, some people think anything remotely hot is spicy. Small bites til you see how hot YOU think the peppers are? Just make VERY SURE to get all the seeds out.

IF they cooled down *I* can eat them whole if they're small ones. I have a mouth like an iron tank.

The spice comes from the seeds and the membrane so make sure you remove all of them. Then, I boil them for five minutes or so to take even more of the heat out. Then, let them cool. Next, you fill them with cream cheese and then wrap with bacon (I used the precooked kind so they get crisp) and cook at 400 degree for about 20-30 minutes. YUMMY!

I've heard from friends who eat these that the cream cheese "cools" the heat from the peppers. I'm still askeerd of them though.

Dont' be askeered LIR, really, if you make sure and remove all the seeds and the white membrane they are not hot at all...BTW, Be SURE and wear rubber gloves while handling the peppers! Or you will be very sorry for several hours!

I am a spicy food sissy.

                      I don't eat hot sauce.
I don't eat very hot salsa.
I eat only the mildest wings I can find.

However, these things are the most tasty fabulous little gems to make. Getting the membrane and seeds out are the key. If you do that, they won't be any hotter than a cooked green bell pepper (IMO). I can eat these things all the time!

ErinonAtkins...they should be made with a non meltable or slow melting cheese. Fontaine is good, but sorta "spensive. Walmart has a frying cheese that you could use and there is that what mexican cheese (the name eludes me) that supposedly works well. I think cheddar would just melt all over the place. But it would be delish.

I thinK MOG stuffs her's with shrimp...now that would be tasty too!

I wish I had seen this recipe before I made some tonight. I filled them with cream cheese and dragged it in egg, and then covered it in parmessan. The parmessan cheese really didn't stick to the pepper. I just cook it in oil on the stove, maybe the parmessan would stick better if I had a deep fryer.
