  • fried mozz sticks

I make these occasionally only when I have not had any of my cheese for the day.

cut mozz cheese into thick strips but small enough to have at least 3-4 sticks maybe around 1 oz apiece. Freeze them and then dip in egg roll in crushed pork rinds maybe lil parm cheese mixed in. Freeze again roll in egg then pork rinds again. Quickly drop in fryer for long enough to melt cheese. They are a great snack, but you have to watch your cheeses rest of the day. I usually eat them whenever I have not eaten much and want a nice dinner. Steak salad and these.....yummy

Thanks for the tip. I tried once before to do mozz sticks and they melted all over so I gave up. I will try these! Sounds good.

      Re: fried mozz sticks

I had to unbury this thread and bring it out to breathe. I amgoing to try these as soon as I get to the store and getmore food and pork rinds in my house. I figured out how to do thm without the recepie, but i didn't freeze them so they didn't come out very good. Thishowever seemslike the ideal solution.....

Wish I would have had the stuff the other day for it, it was mozzarella sticks that got me started on my falling off the wagon for the holidays.....

question..do you have to deep fry them? i have no deep fryer! Can you bake them in the oven? Can you just put oil in a regular pot and throw them in there and cook em?

Yes, you can just use a frying pan with about 2 inches of oil in it and fry the cheese sticks. That's what I do! They're really really good. I like to add different spices to my pork rinds or use the hot 'n spicy flavored ones. Hope this helps!!

I hope this question isn't too silly, but what kind of oil would you use for this? I'd really like to try this, I love mozzerella sticks and never thought I'd be able to have them in this way. Is it vegetable oil, or olive oil, or what?

Don't fry things in olive oil, its not for cooking at high heat! Use a vegetable oil or a peanut oil, or even Canola Oil if you like.
