I'm new at this, so bear with me. I'm trying to adapt a recipe to low carb. The crust includes 1 1/3 cup rolled oats, 1 cup flour, brown sugar. The one I can't figure the low carb substitute for is the rolled oats. Suggestions?

I think it all depends on what you are making. I might suggest using ground flax. It has a nice nutty flavor. And lately I've been using wheat bran too. Maybe you could try using half flax and half wheat bran which would cut the calories a little bit. Whatcha makin?????

Sub for rolled oats
Thanks, I think a nutty flavor would work good with this. I'm making cream cheese bars with pie cherries. The filling also includes sour cream, eggs, bake mix, and vanilla.
The crust is 1 C bake mix, 1 1/2 C oats (1 1/2 C flax seeds?), Splenda, sugar free maple syrup, cinnamon, baking soda, and butter.
I'll make it later this week and let you know how it turns out.Started 20Mar04

Cherry Cream Cheese Bars
I modified a KitchenAid food processor recipe. If you try it, watch the cooking times. I changed them in the recipe. Also let me know if you have any other suggestions for modifications. I think they are quite tasty.
Cherry Cream Cheese Bars
2 C frozen pie cherries
1-2 T ThickenThin not/Starch or other thickener
1 C bake mix
3/4 C flax seeds
3/4 C almonds
3/4 C Splenda
1/4 C Splenda sweetened maple syrup
1/2 t cinnamon
1/2 t baking soda
2/3 C butter, cut up
8 z Neufchatel cheese in 4 pieces
1 C sour cream
2 eggs
2/3 C Splenda
2 t vanilla
1 T bake mix
1. Heat cherries until just bubbling, then add thickener and stir on low until thickened. Cover and remove from heat.
2. Position multipurpose blade in work bowl and add almonds and flax seeds. Process until ground up.
3. Add cinnamon, 1 C bake mix, and soda. Process until mixed.
4. Add 3/4 C Splenda and syrup. Process until mixed.
5. Add butter and process until crumbly.
6. Spray 9x13 glass dish with non-stick cooking spray and press in all but 1 C mixture. Set aside remainder for topping.
7. Bake at 350 about 12-15 minutes.
8. Add cheese, sour cream, eggs, Splenda, vanilla, and 1 T bake mix to work bowl. Process until smooth. Add cherries and pulse until mixed.
9. Spread mixture over crust and sprinkle with topping.
10. Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes until center is set.
11. Chill before cutting into 24 bars. Each bar is about 160 calories and 4 net carbs.Started 20Mar04

I've been experimenting with Wheat Bran as well. It has the perfect texture to replace rolled oats. You could cut the ground flax by half, this would reduce a LOT of calories. Let me know how they turned out

Next time I make them I'll try some wheat bran. We have lots of cherries - our tree had a bumper crop this year. I see it does cut down on the calories a lot. Since I'm on maintenance, I'm watching calories closely.Started 20Mar04
