  • DIY Jello Induction Legal!!

Iam sure this was posted before but tried it and tis GREAT!

    1 Pack Unflavored Gelitin
1/2 Pack KoolAid Flavor of your choice (Watch out some have corn starch in them)
    1 1/2 Tbsp. Splenda

Put 1/4 cup of water in a bowl. Sprinkle the gelitin over the top and let sit 5 min. In the heat 2 cups of water until hot.. doesnt seem like it need to be boiling. When the water is hot, add the 1/2 pack of Kool-Aid to the water (add or subtract to taste. Add disired amount of Splenda and add to the Gelitin mixture. Use spoon to mix.

Put in Fridge and let set!

So far I have made Orange (it was ok) and Black Cherry(amazing). We also whipped some heavy wipping cream. Should be fine for induction as long as you watch the sweetner servings! Enjoy!

We have been using diet jello but we make it with half the water that is on the directions. Usually make a huge batch at a time. Makes it nice and sweet. Might try yours too.

I did that in induction too. You can buy unflavored gelatine in bulk a lot cheaper than Jell-o; I used 1 part jello to 3 parts unflavored so it was a little weak tasting, but the fun is in the eating. You can add other flavors, too, like crystal light to plain jello.

It is "OK". However, I recommend you to use Induction to starve your sweet tooth.

If you choose to have sweets, sweeteners are limited to 3 packets/servings per day. So each serving of jello needs to be counted as 1 serving of sweetener.

No where in the book does it say that aspartame is not allowed. It's discouraged, but not "banned".

As for stalls caused by aspartame... There used to be a note on the Atkins website years ago explaining that about 25% of the people who contacted the Atkins Center because they were stalled began losing again once they removed aspartame-sweetened diet sodas from their diet.

However, the other possible causes for stalls were not eliminated and the results are biased because aspartame was the sweetener of choice up until the 2002 edition of DANDR was published.

Moreover, one should not interpret this as, "25% of the Atkineers were stalled by aspartame"... first because the statistics are based only on the people who contacted the Center... and second because the stalls were caused by diet sodas, not necessarily aspartame. Citric acid in diet sodas can also interfere with fat burning and therefore cause stalls.

Some people are stalled by aspartame... but there are also others for whom aspartame is "okay", but Splenda isn't. Everyone needs to find the sweeteners that agree with them.

GEORGIANA-yes i see where it says it is discouraged and should not exceed more then 3 packets a day..which makes me wonder where the 3 packets a day of splenda came from since it does not say that anywhere unless i'm just missing it..u seem to know your stuff so where did that come from?.not that i even use my 3 a day but i'm just curious..

                      Re: DIY Jello Induction Legal!!

In DANDR 1999, Chapter 8, it says:

"My concern is its [aspartame's] possible adverse effects on weight and sugar metabolism. I have taken scores of aspartame-users off this sweetener and observed weight loss to resume. Accordingly, I recommend its use only in small quantities (less than 3 packets of Equal or equivalent daily). People with known sensitivity to MSG should avoid it."

So the 3-per-day limit seems to come from previous editions of DANDR... as a limit set by Dr. Atkins on aspartame... and in the 2002 edition it was applied to all sweeteners.

                        Re: DIY Jello Induction Legal!!

I'm reading this while eating artichoke hearts in water and citric acid. See I'm eating artichoke because I didn't lose during my first 2 weeks, and I was eating Jello with aspartame. I've tightened up on my rules but the citric acid thing is a surprise.

Thank goodness it's not banned! I can't use Splenda and have to use Equal (Aspartame). I have major reactions to Splenda.
