  • Counting Carbs

I started the Atkins deit 1 week ago and I'm currently in the induction phase. But I am not sure how to count the carbs in items that say less than 1 carb. Is it 1? is it none? Someone told me to just ignore it as if it were zero. What do you guys do??

    Thanks!

I just found this site and it looks like it will be very helpful!

First ifyou use an online carb counter to journal your foods you don't have to worry about this unless it is a custon food you inputted because they all use the USDA values and carry the decimal points out 3 places.

here is the US law on listing numbers in the FDA nutrional label on your packaged foods.
If the carb count is under .5 for the listed serving size (make note of that all of you who think yippeee a carb free food) then they can round down to the next lower whole number.
    0-<.5=0, 1-<1.5=1

if it has .5-.9999999999999999999999999999 then they can say lees then the next higher number
    .5-.99999999=<1, 1.5-<1.999999=<2

so 1 isn't 1 it could be 1.0 or 1.499999 and if I eat 10 foods like that then I have had 10 at the very least and 14.9999999 at the most. To avoid carb creep I go up with mine when I add custom foods to fitday.com
