Sounds interesting, you do know that your splenda is limited to 3 packs (servings) a day.

Cool Whip is a fake whipped cream. In fact, it doesn't even contain cream. It's made from artery-clogging transfats/hydrogenated oils.

Anyhow, I think it's loosely based on a WWII food rationing recipe where canned evaporated milk was whipped. Gotta love the creativity of the WWI and WWII cooks---they created alot of fake food that stood in for all the real food that was rationed/diverted to the troops.

There's a definite "fake" taste to it. But since alot of folks have grown up with it, it tastes more 'real' to them than real, honest whipped cream.

So, could I use real whipped cream in the recipe if I was going to make it? I cant see any reason why not.

Or you could just use cream without whipping it. Occasionally, I make smoothies from avocados, pumpkin and rhubarb. I use heavy cream diluted with alittle water. It works well. Or if you are on OWL or Pre-Maintenance, you can use yogurt in place of the cream.

I can see where this recipe would be wonderful, but I would have to adjust the sweetener. Whenever I was sick, and had to be on pain medication the only thing that would stay on my stomach was a smoothie made with avocado, lime sherbet and on occasion I added banana. If I was having otehr problems with it I might add banana and rice water. It is very satisfying and nutritious, unless your on Atkins, then it needs some serious overhaul because of the carbs.

I have had some serious injuries where I was on morphine for weeks at a time and this kept me alive.
