That sounds good, although I'm always afraid of making desserts that might make me want a "real" dessert! Know what I mean?

I dont know whick kind of jello you mean but the answer is no to both.
If you mean like choc. Pudding it has starch and thickners in it.
If you mean S/F jello (like the fruit flavors) The Aspartimine(sp) stalls many people and is not healthy.

              Re: chocolate mousse

Don't forget to count the carbs in the cocoa! I was surprised to see it had carbs, 2 carbs per tablespoon I believe.
What would we do without it?

                    Re: chocolate mousse

I'm thinking about giving this a try for Christmas dessert. I wonder what would happen if I would mix the above ingredients with one egg white that has been beaten to be "stiff". When my mother-in-law makes her normal chocolate mousse she always does that with the egg white. Hummm

                      Re: chocolate mousse

Maggie--don't know about the egg white...I just usually beat the cream and cocoa, and if I don't finish it, cover it with plastic wrap--it keeps quite well for a day or two.

When making plain chocolate mousse, I usually use stevia instead of splenda.

Another idea is to add a flavored SF syrup (raspberry is delish) instead of actual splenda--just remember to count the carbs in the syrup.

Well I made it in advance for Christmas and it was ok. It wasn't as dark as I had hoped for. I think I should have used more coco powder but I was afraid of the carbs.

Edited to add that I had to make it with that asperwhatever sweet stuff and the taste was ok but not great Once my splenda arrives maybe it will be better.

                            Re: chocolate mousse

I just made some and it was awesome. I made it with the kitchen aid mixer.

                            7 tablespoons of cream
                            1 tablespoon of cocoa powder (2g carbs - 2g fiber = 0 net carbs)
                            1 egg white
1.5 - 2 teaspoons of splenda (0.5 carbs per teaspoon)

I whipped it till it was very thick, It had a nice mousse colour and was fairly sweet.
It made close to a cup whipped. Perfect serving size. I'll be doing this more often. A real treat!

                            The Sky's The limit!
