  • Lipton Green Tea To Go gelatine

I was disappointed to find out that sugarfree Jello is made with aspertame and therefore not allowed. The threads on this forum to make your own gelatine by sweetening with Splenda inspired me to try a few things.

I found that Lipton's Green Tea To Go (both the regular Citrus flavor and Mandarin & Mango) are sweetened with Splenda whereas their pre-mixed formats are made with aspertame. I really like the mango flavor so I decided to give it a try:

1 pack of Knox unflavored gelatine
2 packs of Lipton green tea to go (1.5 might have been enough)
    1 cup boiling water
    1 cup iced water

Empty the powders into a bowl and stir in boiling water until dissolved. Then stir in iced water and chill until set (overnight for me). It came out great!

Note: The ingredients include "Corn Syrup Solids* adds a dietary insignificant amount of sugar" so you may need to avoid using it. I have not had a problem losing weight and drinking it but YMMV. Since it has Spenda, figure that there are 1-2 carbs per serving (despite the package declaring 0 carbs per half packet.)

I also have made the Knox/Kool Aid mix (1 knox, 1 kool aid, 6 packs of spenda) and so far I like them all. It has a bit of a bitter aftertaste and is quite tart, so you might have to adjust the amount of spenda to your taste.

The best thing about these recipes is that my kids even like them! At least it gives them an alternative to the typical cookie or other sweet snacks that they normally eat.

for a creamy twist, add 2 oz of heavy whipping cream prior to letting the gelatin set...creates a creamy desert twist without the carbs.
