  • 4 Carb Root beer float =]

Its a nice treat that is really satisfying. Settled my sweet tooth craving fast.

Just go to your grocery store and pick up a half gallon of Breyers Carb Smart Vanilla ice cream and a 20oz bottle of diet root beer pop (soda) Can use any flavor but root beer is the best. Measure out a half cup of icecream into a glass, pour in your root beer and grab a spoon! (I didnt even need a full half cup of icecream. Only 4 carbs! Enjoy!

It is not allowed because there is milk among the ingredients. Milk can only be introduced in the diary rung of OWL (Rung 2).

Plus, if you have a sweet tooth, it's better to use Induction to break your addiction to sweets rather than feed it with low carb ice cream.

This if from Atkins Diabetes Revolution, Chapter 18:
Dr. Atkins would often encounter patients who told him they were willing to try his approach, but just couldn't live without chocolate, or ice cream, or some other sugary treat. He would remind them that there are plenty of good low-carb versions of these favorites, but would also ask them to give up these foods, at least during the first few weeks. When the patients returned, they almost always told him how they no longer missed sweet foods.

Sorry if that is how you interpreted it. If I wanted to be snotty, I would have ignored your post...but instead I provided the induction foods link, which a lot of people haven't read, even though they think they are following Atkins. They don't read the book or the stickies, and they ask basic questions that are in the stickies, so I can presume they don't have the information provided in the stickies. So since the ice cream is NOT on the list, I presumed you didn't have the list. So I was just trying to help you. And if you don't have a sense of humor and took my reply the wrong way, that's unfortunate.

And Here's the Point--- I thought you were asking the question, "Is the Carb smart ice cream allowed on induction?" Since that is what you wrote.

I have provided several links and recipes to people when they need help, and they thanked me for my help.

I don't mind telling you, you have hurt my feelings. How was I to know it was an "'why are you using it on induction' kind of question."

And if you were asking the poster Is the Carb smart ice cream allowed on induction?--That could have been interpreted as snotty as well.

So let's all take a step back and get along.

Re: 4 Carb Root beer float =]

Sounds like a yummy treat, but I won't be eating it just because I think eating low carb ice cream would make me crave REAL ice cream. That's the same reason I don't eat any low carb bars. I know that eating the chocolate flavored ones will just make me crave REAL chocolate, and I don't ever want to find myself with those intense cravings again!

I do occasionally (about once a week) have a diet drink, though. Diet A&W root beer is great!

I make my low carb floats with sugar free ICB root beer and heavy whipping cream (just use it straight from carton and of course measure it out). The ICB root beer comes in 12

me too, steflou. I also add a dash of vanilla to mine. I like the cream better because then I don't have to see a carton of Carbsmart hanging in the freezer waiting to be eaten.

                        Sounds tasty!

But to be perfect honest I find most of that stuff only makes me crave the real thing. I feel that is one of the major mistakes I made last time was with the "low-Carb" replacements for foods I shouldn't be eating in the first place.
After giving it some thought I decided that any of this stuff, namely sweets, should be as they were intended long ago....a special treat. For me that doesn;t mean one a day or one a week, but rather a really special occasion.
However, if the occasion is rare and special enough, I don't see any reason to not have the real thing, in moderation. I haven't yet met the low-carb apple pie that will compare to the real deal; creamy french apple pie with lard crust.
And I will admit I fully intend to have a slice of that apple pie for Thanksgiving.
