  • adding to the atkins shakes

using a little help from the atkins website, this is what i do to add flavor and volume to my atkins shakes (honestly, if i didn't have these to help my sweettooth i dont think i'd be able to do atkins).

1 atkins shake, generally any flavor you like (i use the cans not the powder but i'm sure that works too)
ice (i use about 2 cups but it's your preference)
    approx. 1/4 cup heavy cream
approx. 1/4 cup sugar free chocolate syrup
add vanilla extract and things like cinammon or nutmeg to taste
put it all in a blender and mix. i like mine a little on the thick side (lots of chunky ice)

for me these things fill me to the brim and fix my sugar cravings (which i dont have so much anymore but who can completely give up having something sweet?)
and from what i can tell from looking at the facts on the ingredients they shouldn't be more than 2-3g of carbs and great for induction.
let me know what you think.

shakes are not induction-friendly , and they stall some people who use them , just a heads up

lets see you have taken a can of shake with one serving of your daily sweetner limit, added 1/4 cup cream is that an acceptable amount for induction now? It was 2-3 T in my book, added 1/4th cup of sugar free choclate syrup that would be 4T or according to DaVInci syrups 4 servings (which counts as 4 of your daily sweetner limit too, one more then you get for the whole day)

so you have taken a sweet snack added more sweetner then you are allowed for the whole day to it and more cream too. nope that will not pass as an acceptable drink, snack or even a meal.

Induction is about getting control of your sweet tooth that asssited you in becoming the person who needed to eat induction to begin with. The less you feed your sweet tooth during your induction detox period the less you will be getting messages from it. Soon the natural sweetness of veggies and the OWL fruits will be detectable and you will find those syrups too sweetfor your liking. Do yourself a favor and cut down on those and make them legal at least if you must have them but again it you must have it then you are addicted and need to detox.

      Happy low carbing.

some people need to even count the sugar alcohols ..... depends on how their body reacts to them

i personally havent had a problem with the shakes but many people here swear that they cause stalls in weight loss

Actually the shakes are the one thing that do not contain sugar alcohols, they are sweetened entirely with splenda (usually candies/chocolates are..i think it's becuase of the solid texture needed, that's why the shakes don't).

However they're not induction friendly, and you are right they may have some other ingredients that can cause stalls
