  • Cocoa

ok my dad came up with this recipe.

first you need to pull out the mixer. put in 2 eggs. grab some hersheys cocoa baking powder and put some in about 1/2 a cup... or more its your decision. the get some whip topping and put a serving size in. then grab 2 packs of splenda and pour in. next add a tsp of vanilla. mix it all together for about 2-3 minutes. then drink either cold of you can warm it up.

i drank it once and it was pretty good. but im too lazy to go through all those steps just for cocoa.

Here's a carb breakdown of that drink:

    2 eggs = 1.2 net carbs
    1/2 cup Hershey's unsweetened cocoa powder = 16 net carbs *
    2 Splenda packets = 2 net carbs
Whipped topping (unspecified amount) = 1-2 net carbs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract = 0.5 net carbs

So that one serving of cocoa has about 20 net carbs.

Also are you sure you use the unsweetened baking cocoa, because unsweetened cocoa is very bitter and 2 packets of Splenda most likely won't render it drinkable.

*per the nutritional label 1 tablespoon of the cocoa contains 2 net carbs (3 total carbs, 1 fiber gram). There are 8 tablespoons in 1/2 cup.

        Re: Cocoa

Oh Megs I was thinking the same thing.

you can make low carb cocoa with 1-2 T of the powder. some of your cream allottment for the day if your Atkins and metabolism can handle cream a sweetner of your choice and water. the longer you do Atkins the less cream you will need and the more water you can uses instead. By my second yr I was down to no cream just cocoa powder and water.

Now, the cocoa didn't bother me but the raw eggs worried me. It sounds very good though and I bet we could teek it to make it induction friendly. Hummmmm

Raw eggs aren't a problem---as long as you are certain your eggs aren't contaminated.
