  • The best water I've ever had

For me, it was spouting from a natural spring in the Great Smokey Mountains of Tennessee, in the summer after a long hot day of sightseeing. What would you say was the best water you ever had?

Types of water include (per http://www.ext.vt.edu/pubs/housing/3...56-486.html#L2 )
    • Artesian water or artesian well water is water from a well tapping a confined aquifer in which the water level stands at some height above the top of the aquifer. Artesian water may be collected with the assistance of external force to enhance the natural underground pressure.

Ground water is water from a subsurface saturated zone that is under a pressure equal to or greater than atmospheric pressure. Ground water must not be under the direct influence of surface water as defined by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 40 CFR 141.2.

Mineral water is water containing not less than 250 parts per million (ppm) total dissolved solids (TDS), coming from a source tapped at one or more bore holes or springs, originating from a geologically and physically protected underground water source. No minerals may be added to this water. If TDS content is below 500 ppm, the statement "low mineral content" must appear on the label. If TDS content is above 1500 ppm, the statement "high mineral content" must appear on the label.

Purified water is water that has been produced by distillation, deionization, reverse osmosis, or other suitable processes and that meets the definition of "purified water" in the 23d Revision of the United States Pharmacopeia.

Sparkling bottled water is water that, after treatment and possible replacement of carbon dioxide, contains the same amount of carbon dioxide that it had at emergence from the source.

Spring water is water derived from an underground formation from which water flows naturally to the surface of the earth. Spring water shall be collected only at the spring or through a bore hole tapping the underground formation feeding the spring.

Sterile water is water that meets the requirements under "Sterility Test" <7l> in the 23d Revision of the United States Pharmacopeia.

Well water is water from a hole bored, drilled, or otherwise constructed in the ground which taps the water of an aquifer.

Of course, if you think another type was better, such as icycles or rainwater, do tell where it came from.

I just drink old fashioned pitchers of tap water. I usually fill it every morning and leave it on the counter and drink it room temperature. Only after reading someone's thread that suggested adding sliced cucumbers, did I change my ways!!
    It's very, very refreshing!

It was on the news earlier in the week that a study showed we should drink tap water instead of bottled water because of the flouride. It's usually not put in the bottled waters.

I'm a water snob. I like our local tap water, room temperature please! I also LOVE bottled spring water, once again...room temperature please!

I absolutely cannot stand Dasani, Aquafina or any other "purified" water or distilled water. It just tastes bitter to me. Yucko. Unfortunately Dasani and Aquafina is mostly what you find most places. Yucko.

I drink filtered tap water at home. I like it both ice cold and room temp, either way is fine by me. When I'm out, my favorite bottled water is Figi. http://fijiwater.com/

My favorite water is Glaceau Smart Water. It is distilled and Super Tasty. It has a very Crisp taste to it. I must admit though, bottled water can be pricey

so usually I just keep the bottle and refill it with dumb 'ol tapwater. LOL Smart water comes in great big bottles, so I know if I drink two bottles I've achieved my 110 ounces.

Re: The best water I've ever had

I drink tap water at home and water cooler water at work. Cold. Mmmmm. If we buy bottled water (for the gym or car trips, etc.) then it's usually the drugstore brand which happens to be made by....Nestle (maker of not-so-fine chocolate). My dh bought a case of Aquafina last week. Blech!!!! It tastes like dirt. When I go to restaurants I just order tap water.

The best water? That first icy cold glass that I have the second I walk into work in the morning after being outside in the summer heat. Mmmmmmm.

Smart Water comes in several different sizes. I like their Lemon Cucumber flavored one, but I think they quit making it because I can't find it anywhere. It is expensive though, but the bottles are cool and when I do buy it I refill them a few times before thowing them out.

I really like Mountain Valley Spring Water. My tap water is horrible. It smells like a swimming pool.

Probably the best water I've had is from a lake in Ontario Canada, called Tobermory. When I went camping there years ago, it was supposedly safe to drink right from the source. We filled our water bottles while we hiked, and the water was cold, and delicious.

I've been faithfully adding cucumber slices to my pitchers of water and I LOVE it! I think a combo is in order now. I'm going to try the lemon/cucumber and see how that is. Thanks for the idea.

Though I've never tried it, undoubtedly this must be pretty good water, at $35 /12 Litre:

                      Name: APOLLINARIS
                      Country of Origin: GERMANY
                      TDS: 2650
                      pH: 5.8
                      Altitude: 350 FT
                      Discovery of Source: Old

Apollinaris is a naturally carbonated mineral water renowned for its health and curative powers. Although not tremendously high in Calcium compared with many other curative brands, Apollinaris it is strong in Potassium, and Sulphate, and gangbusters in Magnesium and Bicarbonate at 130 milligrams and 1810 milligrams per liter respectively. What you might not like is the Sodium - also extremely high at 410 milligrams (almost a half a gram) per liter. And, it must be noted that we have not ascertained the all-important Nitrate level. The Apollinaris story begins in 1852 when a hopeful winegrower was having a bad time establishing his vineyard near Bad Neuenahr in the Eifel Region of Germany. Turns out the ground was too acidic, carbonic acid specifically; it also turned out that his apparent failure was soon a blessing because at a depth of 50 feet, carbonated mineral water bubbled out of the rock. The rest is history. Apollinaris has always been considered a luxury water, and was "bottled" in earthen jugs before the advent of glass bottling. The taste is undeniably strong and distinctive, and either you love it or you or don't. But those who drink Apollinaris do so religiously.

Boonie that's a little less than 3 bucks for a liter, Not any more expensive than Perrier I don't think.

If you like expensive, how about this:

Hawaiian seawater is considered of high quality and gets a high price. Two-ounce bottles of Hawaii Deep Marine's Kona Nigari seawater mineral concentrate (to mix with regular water) sell for $33.50 at the Key of Life store in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center.
