  • hot broth

Okay... so it's not a new idea for many of us, but I wanted to see it on the topic list here as a reminder.

I love a cuppa hot chicken broth!

I do that too, also put a few dashes of Frank's red hot in there. It does wonders for warming me up.

I'm pretty sure I read this recipe somewhere on here, but it fits this thread.

Try a cup of bullion...I used chicken this morning - boiling hot

And stir in 2 well beaten eggs

Makes like a egg drop soup

Now I nuked the soup for about 20 seconds longer just to make sure I was not indulging in raw eggs.

Check your labels the bullion I have in my closet has 2 carbs per cup. I bet the canned stuff may have less

                Re: hot broth

Because I'm a major salt person, a mug of warm beef broth has REALLY saved me. If I remember correctly there's about 2 carbs per serving (1 cup). Lots of companys do the lower sodium kind too, which still satisfies my salt craving.

One of my FAVORITE recipes, and one my friends and family always request of me, are egg rolls and won ton soup. I promised I'd make it for my parents last week, but I ended up deciding to go on Atkins. It was torture making the won ton soup and egg rolls and not being able to indulge. Turns out I had leftover egg roll stuffing which was merely thin sliced cabbage, cooked ground beef and sauteed portabello (preferably shitake but I couldn't find any). I brought a pot of beef broth to boil, added the leftover egg roll filling and brought it back to a boil. I was wary of how it would taste but it turned out to be FABULOUS. I'll be going back to the store this week for some more supplies for this wonderful mistake of a dish!
