    I got this out of a cookbook...can't remember which one. Anyhow, this will wake you up and get you ready for the day ahead or use it to defrost yourself on a cold day. This is good, hot and spicy. Reduce or increase the amount of black pepper to suit your tastebuds.

    Ginger-Pepper Tea

    1 cup water
    1 inch piece of fresh ginger, chopped or minced
    1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
    sweetener to taste
    pinch salt.

    Combine the water, ginger and pepper in a pot. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Cover and allow to sit for about 10 minutes. Strain into a cup, add sweetener and a pinch of salt.
