As always I have thought Splenda was a great alternative to my atkins lifestyle but of course there's always a nagging in my head thinking is it
safe?? to good to be true, pepsi one, low carb ice creams even pudding
with splenda! My local news reported this story and I thought I might -

When it comes to dieting - many of us rely on no calorie sweeteners to save calories. The hottest sweetener right now comes in this little yellow packet. Why is it so popular? Here's the scoop on Splenda.

But, it's the yellow packet with the Splenda name. That's suddenly finding the sweetest success in our calorie-conscious world.
Splenda user Shirley Bing: "I would definitely call myself a Splenda lover."
Shirley turned to the artificial sweetener after having gastric bypass surgery.
Shirley Bing: "I wanted to find ways to eat healthier and have healthier choices and Splenda gives me a way to make healthier choices as far as my sugar intake goes.
Joshua stirs it in to stay slim.
Splenda user Joshua Garfinkel: "I have coffee several times a day and what I do is I will bring the Splenda."
And they're not alone. Splenda is everywhere - in everything from ice cream and yogurt...To pudding and soda.
Joshua Garfinkel: "It just tastes really good, it tastes sweet. It's actually better than sugar."
It may taste better, but registered dietitians aren't completely convinced it's better for you.
Pamela Downer from Memorial Hospital West: "I would use it in moderation just like anything else."
And they recommend being careful with kids.
Pamela Downer: "There is not too much research on any side effects with Splenda right now."
The sugar association has also filed a lawsuit against the Splenda manufacturers saying...They are purposefully confusing consumers into believing Splenda is a natural product that contains sugar. But Splenda argues it is a healthier, less fattening form of sugar. That's important to Joshua...He can now enjoy his coffee guilt-free.
Joshua Garfinkel: "You have to maintain a healthy diet so Splenda works for everybody."
While Shirley can satisfy her sweet tooth...One bite at a time.
