  • PowerBar Pria-Carb select bar

    :wave
    I am starting Induction again after a relapse because I got sick. But anyway, I was wondering if the Power Bar Pria Carb select bar is okay for induction. As in between meal snacks.

    There are three flavors:

    * Caramel nut Brownie = 21g total carb - 2g total fiber - 17g sugar alcohol = Total impact 2g

    *Cookies n' Cream = 22 total carb - 2g fiber - 18g sugar alcohol = Total impact 2g

    *Peanut Butter Caramel = 21 total carb - 2g fiber - 17g sugar alcohol = Total impact = 2g

    I prefer these bars to almost all of the others (though I do like the Atkins Breakfast bars - especially the apple crisp).

    However, I really avoided anything containing sugar alcohols early on in my diet.

    If you're looking for breakfast convenience foods, what I used to do was buy low-carb tortillas from the supermarket, and rewrap breakfast sandwiches (bacon, egg, and cheese), from the local deli or fast food place. My induction phase really moved along with that.

    Now that I've moved out of induction, but am still trying to keep my carb count low, I usually eat a bar or two during the day.

    They are really good.

      These bars taste fabulous, but unfortunately I didn't start losing weight until I stopped eating them.

        They are good, but during induction you should focus on whole, unprocessed foods. A lot of people debate on whether or not to count sugar alcohols towards your daily carb tally. After reading some of the posts and opinions on this board I am starting to believe that it might be a good idea for me to do that.

          I love these bars. I found them as Costco (Sam's club) and they were buy one get one free. While I know it's not recommended in Induction, I work on an ambulance and sometimes it's the only food I will get during a 12 hour shift and it's better than grabbing something nasty. They are really good especially considering how PowerBars used to taste!

            They are soooo small . . . I would have to eat like three of them if I was using them as a meal replacement. Odyssy has a yummy rocky road LC Bar. It is alot bigger.
